Now, the duo is illuminated in golden glows, ready to battle their great foe.
Sonic readies himself to aim a Chaos Spear at the Perfect Chaos look-alike. "I wonder where it came from.", Shadow thinks, soon concluding that, perhaps, Dr. Eggman made a replica of the Phantom Ruby in order to summon it. "If that's the case, this is also a battle of the mind.", he recognizes, "Heh. That's nothing new." Sonic lands the hit. Shadow next also throws as a Chaos Spear at the water monster, before Sonic spin-dashes at it. It fights back, striking its tentacles at the hedgehogs. Sonic is knocked back, but Shadow catches him. They return to attacking the Chaos creature. The Chaos-like creature barrages the duo with rapidly-moving water. They dodge, both charging Chaos Blasts, readying a combined attack, knowing they are running out of time before the Chaos creature has a chance to expand again and truly cause havoc to those living near the coast. He nods to Sonic, who next charges a Chaos Blast. Shadow joins. "Chaos Blast!", they both say, dealing massive damage simultaneously.
"Yeah! We did it!", Sonic exclaims, happily, high-fiving Shadow. "Yes, we did.", Shadow confidently agrees. "Ohoho!", Eggman cackles from close by. "Color me impressed.", he accepts his defeat. "If I had to lose to the likes of you, at least you displayed a good show.", he continues, somewhat comedically. Sonic playfully smirks at him. Soon, Sonic hugs Shadow.
"Sonic?"
"You're really cool!"
Shadow accepts the embrace.
