It is some time later.
Someone knocks playfully on Shadow's front door. He knows very well who it is. "Sonic? Come in.", he welcomes, opening the door.
"I'm glad to see you."
"Me too."
"What have you been up to?"
"The usual—"
"Ah, I see."
The hedgehogs chat, eventually deciding to spend the day together.
Later, as Sonic plans to depart, he looks up to the wall next to the door, which was repaired a while back, noticing that Shadow replaced his old painting of Maria. He sees a new one: he and Shadow together, Maria's ghostly figure now behind Shadow.
