He catches him, quickly embracing him. He clutches him close, into a tight hug. "Shadow, please— I want you to have a chance to be happy!", he screams, his voice not silenced by the vacuum of space due to the energy surging through him, beginning to cry, his tears floating into space, reflecting the stars— the stars that they both used to watch from afar, one from a window into space, one from the planet's surface below, that they both wondered about, one about purpose, one about what else is out there beyond himself. Their answers were right here, reflecting in each other. The stars surround them now.
Shadow, half-unconscious, remembers Maria's final words, "Shadow I beg of you, please do it for me... for a better future! For all the people who live on that planet... give them a chance to be happy... Let them live for their dreams. Shadow, I know you can do it. That's the reason why you were brought into this world. Sayonara, Shadow the Hedgehog." Sonic pours Chaos energy in him, healing him, "You're safe now."
