On the day Harry would come back from Hogwarts for the summer, Evangeline was excited. And for some reason, Vernon Dursley had the desire to ruin her enthusiasm.
Vernon made Eva do the dishes. It was her least favorite chore, which is why it was his favorite to make her do. What else was she good for?
She placed the last plate into the dish rack, right as the front door opened. She rushed over to see Harry holding onto a suitcase. He immediately hugged his sister.
Mr. Dursley approached the twins, "Have you finished your chores, Evangeline?" She turned around to see him with his arms folded as his round, purple face scolded her. His eyebrows were furrowed, and his expression was full of annoyance.
"Yes." She answered.
"Both of you, go on up to your room." He demanded.
Harry & Eva rushed up the stairs into their shared room. Harry was the last one in; he shut the door behind him as he placed his suitcase next to the doorframe with a sigh.
Evangeline sat on her bed, eagerly waiting for him to tell her how the conversation with the Hogwarts headmaster went. "You said you were going to talk to your headmaster?" She brought up, assuming he had forgotten to mention it.
The expression on Harry's face made her heart drop; it had to have been something bad. "Everyone thinks you're dead." He spoke quickly.
She said nothing. She raised her eyebrows a little bit, processing what he just told her. He had to be lying.
Harry sat down next to her on the bed. "Everyone thinks Voldemort killed you."
She shook her head slightly in disbelief, "That's bullshit." She laughed a little bit. She was in such shock. She adjusted her sitting position a little, facing more towards Harry.
"Well, Vernon and Petunia may or may not have told them that you were dead."
She rolled her eyes in irritation, "Of course they did." Her voice had lowered.
"It doesn't matter now, though." He said, "I told them that you're not. You're going to get an acceptance letter."
She smiled, hopped off the bed, and embraced him, "Thank you."
