Eva was studying, sitting on her bed and leaning against her pillows with her nose in a book when Draco returned to their room. He saw that she were wearing the necklace he gave her. "Do you like it?" He inquired, shutting the door behind him.

She glanced over at him, "The book or the necklace?"

"The necklace, dummy."

"Yeah." She answered, looking back at her book, "But if you think this makes us okay, it doesn't."

"I know it doesn't." Replied Draco, "I got that for you weeks ago."

She bit her lip out of frustration. She shut her book and placed it by her side, "I don't understand you, Draco. You say one thing, then you say something else. Or you'll do something that doesn't align with what you said at all. It's confusing." She rose to her feet, "It feels like you're always changing your mind."

He furrowed his brows at her as she approached him. He didn't know what to say though. She's right. He does feel like he's always changing his mind; it's exhausting.

"I don't get you." She continued, "I thought I did."

He stayed silent for a moment, not knowing how to voice his emotions. "My father forbids me from being anything...romantic with you and last night...I acted impulsively."

Eva looked down at the ground, "Well, we really weren't anything to begin with anyway-"

"Don't act like you don't fancy me, Potter." He got defensive.

She looks back at him, noting that he used her last name. To be fair, she used his earlier. "I do like you, Draco." She admitted, "And if you don't want to be more than friends, that's fine, but we aren't actually friends if that's what you really think of me."

He was consumed by guilt. It was visible in his face and body language. Most of what he felt these days was shame. Unless it came to Eva, she made him feel normal, but it seems like he screwed that up too. "That's not how I really think of you..."

"So then what, Draco?"

"I do want to be more than friends, but I don't want to deal with the grief of loosing you."

Right.

"I understand." She spoke softly.
