Draco and Eva headed up to their new common room. Neither of them were happy about all the stairs they had to walk up. "This castle is beyond confusing." She said as they entered.
He chuckled at her complaint, "It was for me during my first few years too."
"I can't believe I missed out on so much. This is my last year here and I only get two."
"It's bullshit that Harry kept you from here."
"You think maybe there was a reason?"
"Maybe, but why wouldn't he just tell you why then?"
"I don't know." She shrugged as they sat next to each other on the new leather couch.
Draco sighed and leaned back into the couch, "Why did you need to talk to the Weasley girl?"
"I wanted to know where my brother was. But he isn't here. I think he dropped out to go on the horcrux hunt with Ron Weasley and Granger."
"You should tell Professor Snape."
"I'm sure he'll realize my brother and them aren't at school very quickly. But you're right. I should say something at least to make it look like I'm doing my part."
He nods.
They sit in silence for a moment. The silence was comfortable though. Draco tried to casually glance at her occasionally, studying her. He broke the quiet, "The other day you mentioned you weren't going to betray your brother. What do you mean by that?"
"I meant what I said. I want him to find all the Horcruxes and destroy them. But he deserves to know that he's one too. I just wish I could tell him, but I have no idea where he is."
"If all the Horcruxes get destroyed, what about you?"
"You know what happens to me, Draco."
He closed his eyes for a brief moment, "I don't want that."
"You'd rather the Dark Lord have full power over both worlds? What he does is sick and cruel. Some of these death eaters genuinely find torturing people fun."
"Why are you so okay with dying?"
"I'm not. I don't want to, but I cannot allow him to continue hurting people just because he believes their blood isn't pure. It's sick."
He shook his head. "You're the only person I can talk to Eva." He looked at her with a saddened expression. One Eva had been seeing often. His gaze flickered a bit between her lips and eyes while she just looked up at him, admiring his grey eyes.
Her heart was heavy.
And so was his.
