Evangeline lied on the bottom bunk of her bed, agonisingly bored. She dreaded every moment she spent there in that house, let alone that town.
Her brother, Harry, was at school, Hogwarts. He'd never come home for the holidays. She doesn't blame him because it sucks at the Dursleys'. She only wished he'd at least come back for her. She felt miserable and lonely, but at least he's coming back in a few days for the summer. She always wondered why she never got an acceptance letter to Hogwarts. It were no fair to her. She felt that she were no different from her brother.
She suddenly heard a light, hollow knock at the window. She sat up and saw her brother's owl, Hedwig, sitting on the sill. A soft smile appeared on her face as she rose to her feet and headed toward the window. She grabbed the latch gently and opened it. Hedwig sat there waiting for Eva to grab the letter out of her beak. She gently took it, and Hedwig flew away, off into the sunset as if she were in a rush.
Eva shut the window and took a seat at the desk in front of the window, carefully opening the letter. She already knew it was from Harry. He wrote to her very often, telling her about gossip involving his Slytherin rivals—specifically an 'arrogant bloke' named Malfoy—his friends, information he found out about their parents, and how much he wished his sister were there too.
Eva was incredibly jealous of Harry. She desperately wanted to go to Hogwarts. She hated the local secondary school. She felt the other kids in Surrey sucked and that she had no real friends. And not having to stay at the Dursley's sounded like a dream come true.
She read the letter after opening it carefully:
Dear Evangeline,
I miss you. I hope things aren't as bad as they usually are. I still don't understand why you haven't gotten an acceptance letter; so, today, I will talk to our headmaster, Dumbledore.
I'll make sure you get to go to Hogwarts.
Sincerely,
Your annoying brother;
Harry
She folded the letter back up. She was excited in a sense, but it couldn't have been a mistake that she wasn't invited to Hogwarts. It's been years.
A/N
In this story:
•It was Viktor Krum who had been murdered at the Triwizard Tournament instead of Cedric Diggory.
•Professor Snape is still the Potions teacher, but later in the year, Slughorn will be the professor.
•Mattheo Riddle is also a thing. He's the son of Tom Riddle and Bellatrix Lestrange. (Didn't feel like coming up with my own character)
•The Yule Ball happens each year instead of only with the Triwizard Tournament
•I mix the details/dialogue from the books AND movies (the books are better though, and I'll forever stand by that)
