24 December, 1997

'Twas the night before Christmas and Evangeline couldn't sleep well. She awoke in the middle of the night, glanced at the clock and saw that it struck 11:49pm. It was almost Christmas day.

Christmas never meant much to Evangeline. As children, her & Harry would watch their cousin, Dudley, open all his cool, expensive gifts, while Harry and Eva would be lucky to get a pair of socks.

After Harry started going to Hogwarts, he never returned 'home' for the holidays, leaving Evangeline alone with the Dursleys. Harry would send her a gift usually, which meant a lot, but his simple presence would have meant more to her.

Eva sat up and saw that Draco wasn't in his bed. She got up and began to wander the manor, wanting to check on the prisoners. She didn't actually know that there were any, but she felt like being nosey.

She entered the cellar to see a pale girl with blonde hair asleep on the floor that Eva remembers being very cold and uncomfortable. She felt sorry for the girl.

The girl was startled awake by the sound of Eva's footsteps. "Evangeline Potter?" Her soft voice spoke.

"Yeah. Are you...Luna Lovegood?"

"Yes. It's a pleasure to meet you. Have you been captured too?"

Eva shook her head.

Lovegood stood up and faced Evangeline, confused.

"You hungry?" Inquired Eva.

Luna nodded.

Eva took a granola bar out of her pocket that she stole on the way to the cellar. "You're the girl who was captured on the train, huh?"

"I guess so. Why are you here, Eva?" Inquired the blonde girl as she took the snack, "I couldn't believe it were true, that you were working with you-know-who. But is it true?"

Eva hesitated. "I'm sorry that you're stuck here, Lovegood."

"I miss my home." Luna admitted, "...My bed."

"I'll bring you a pillow and some blankets."

"Thank you."

"You'll be out of here and with your father again. I promise. I just...can't promise soon."

Luna half-smiled and Eva exited the cellar with a heavy heart. Eva decided to snoop around the manor, looking for somewhere that had spare pillows and blankets that she could give to Lovegood.

But she then heard a piano playing a pretty melody. It scared the shit out of her though. That meant another death eater was awake.
