"I've prepared some concoctions this morning." Stated Professor Slughorn, "Any ideas what these might be?"
Professor Slughorn had the students around two cauldrons. He replaced Snape as the potions teacher. Evangeline stood in between Blaise & Mattheo, while Draco was next to Mattheo and Crabbe and Goyle were behind Draco.
Complicated, I know.
Hermione's hand shot up in the air quickly. Per usual.
"Yes, Miss Granger?"
Hermione walked towards the cauldrons, "That one there is Veritaserum. It's a truth-telling serum. It's terribly tricky to make." She walked in front of the next one, "And this is Amortentia. The most powerful love potion in the world. It's rumored to smell differently to each person, according to what attracts them. For example, I smell...freshly mowed grass and...new parchment and...spearmint toothpaste." Hermione grew embarrassed. She quickly stepped back into the spot she was previously standing in.
Blaise bent down to Evangeline's level and whispered in her ear, "I bet Draco smells himself."
Eva giggled, maybe a little too loud. Slughorn looked at her, "Miss Potter?"
"Sorry, Professor." She quickly apologized. Her cheeks began to flush as she was embarrassed.
"Why don't you come on up and tell us what you smell?" He motioned his hand for her to come over.
She did as he said, but hesitantly. She stood in front of the cauldron containing Amortentia.
"I swear to Merlin, if I smell Cedric's cologne, I am going to loose it."
She gently sniffed, allowing the aromas from the potion to fill her nostrils. She smelt cologne, but it wasn't Cedrics.
It was Acqua di Gió by Giorgio Armani...
She's deliberately seen that cologne on someone's dresser.
Spearmint toothpaste...
Apples...
Oh, Merlin.
Slughorn spoke up, a little irritated with Eva's silence, "You care to tell us what you smell?"
She cleared her throat and spoke very quickly, "Giorgio Armani's cologne, Acqua di Gió, spearmint toothpaste and apples." She hid her face with her hand and walked back quickly to where she originally stood.
Draco, Blaise, Mattheo, Crabbe, and Goyle, all stared at Eva. That was Draco's cologne and they all knew it. It sits on Draco's dresser in their dorm room.
Professor Slughorn put his hands on his hips, "Now was that enough for you to realize you shouldn't be laughing at other students?"
"I wasn't laughing at Granger, Professor."
"Then what were you laughing at?"
"A joke."
"Care to share?"
"Draco would probably smell himself."
The entire class began to laugh. Blaise smirked, knowing it was his joke, but he was thankful because Eva didn't rat him out.
