*another day missed. Posted June 5th.*

"Hey, Lullaby, can I ask you something?"

She turned her attention from stitching a patch of fabric over her bag, to Fili standing beside where she sat. Thorin Oakenshield's Company had stopped early for the night, having stopped in the early afternoon. They'd made quite a bit of ground, and made a general vote to rest early and relax. Where they'd stopped was close to a bright blue lake, and some of the dwarves took it upon themselves to go for a swim.

Lullaby heard what she thought was slight nervousness in the Lionheart's voice, but she couldn't be sure. Fili was confident, and brave, and the thought alone of hearing nerves in his voice didn't sound right to her.

"Sure, Fili," she answered, pausing her stitching. "What's up?"

Fili exhaled then, suddenly, before kneeling down toward Lullaby's level. She watched his eyes, as they did whatever they could to avoid hers. His eyes rested on the sewing project in her hands. "I was just wondering what you were up to," he finally said. "Most of the others are swimming, and I noticed you weren't down by the lake."

Lullaby suspected that Fili was going to say something other than what he said, but didn't press him. "Yeah, I'm not a great swimmer anyways. I figured I'd take some time and fix my bag, make sure everything is good for when we get going tomorrow." She watched him as she spoke; his eyes avoided hers, adamantly. "Fili, can I ask you something?"

His eyes lifted at those words, finally meeting hers. She felt like she was melting at those bright blue eyes. They had a great mesmerizing quality to them. "Of course, Lullaby."

"Are you alright?" she asked him.

"Of course I am," he answered, and he sounded quite genuine. "What would suggest I'm not?"

Lullaby shook her head. "Nothing, I'm just... making sure you're alright, is all."

Fili smiled then. "I am quite well, Lullaby."

She smiled back at him. "That's good to hear."

Fili sat down on the blanket beside her. "Mind if I join you?"

"Not at all," she said, offering him a bowl of fresh wild berries from beside her; he accepted it. "Why aren't you with the others?"

"Didn't want you to be lonely."

She met his eyes; she loved how sincere he sounded. "Thank you."

"Anytime."
