You get in his smaller sports car as he gets in on the driver's side. He checks himself in the mirror, still frowning. "What's wrong?" You ask as he closes the visor. "I don't do these sort of things. I used to when I was a child. My father would take me to the games and I went to my games in school but..." He shrugs, "It was never my crowd."
You touch his thigh. "It's not really my crowd either." He smirks as he starts the car. "Then we're going to have to fake it. Now, I don't know if they've dug up your past but they might have. I know of your exes, but only in passing because of my research." Your heart skips beats at the thought of them, your fingers digging in your palms. "I need to know a little more if that's alright."
"Well, what about you?" You ask quickly, knowing virtually nothing.
Bruce keeps his grimace, his brows lowering. "Not what I asked."
"What do my exes have to do with football?" You ask, frowning. "They might ask."
"Then I'll tell them a little bit. I don't think they'd appreciate being put in the spotlight because once upon a time we were a couple." You cross your arms. You didn't have terrible exes that you were ashamed about. It just felt unnecessary to have them involved. "Fair..." You're surprised he drops it quickly. He turns his music up. You don't recognize the moody tunes as his hand clenches his wheel tight.
"I haven't dated anyone publically that they would know/ask about. There have been rumors before of women... They do not know about Selina since she was just with Batman." You raise your eyebrows almost surprised. "How come you never had anyone?" He glances over at you, his eyes serious.
"Oh, you're seriously asking." He says looking back at the road. He's going the speed limit. He does not want to be there early for once. "I never had much interest in anything romantic... I had urges of course. I'll tell you about those times if you want." You nod and he smirks. "Well, you'll have to tell me about yours too then. Just to me though." You wince but sigh back in your chair. "Deal," You say as the man mumbles something about death and love and stuff.
"The longest fling I had was in university. Her name is Talia. I met her in London. She comes from money or at least I had a feeling she did. We could relate to each other as she lost her mother at a young age. We weren't that serious however as she traveled a lot. I didn't want to get attached because of the distance and she did, unfortunately. She was heartbroken. I haven't heard from her in years." Talia... Her name sounds pretty as you nod. "Your turn." You bite your lip, thinking of who to go with.
"My most recent ex was Miguel, but it wasn't serious. Just a little fling from last summer. He broke up with me before all the flooding and stuff. He said it was because I wasn't mature enough." You shrug. "How old much older is he?" You laugh, "He's a little older than you. He was more focused on us getting married and having children right away..." You trail off when you glance over at Bruce. "We're different however because I've matured and you're not looking at me as a baby-making machine. You're still letting me be my own person and not Bruce Wayne's girlfriend/wife." You explain, watching as the fields turn into suburban streets again, the outskirts.
"So he wasn't letting you be your own person?"
You nod. "Everything was demanding. I told him I didn't want that in the beginning, but I don't think he heard me." You shrug.
"Noted. My next person was before I decided to be Batman. Her name is Silver." He ignores your expression at her name. "We went to the same middle school. When I came back from university, we started talking. However, it didn't last long because she wanted to move away from Gotham. I couldn't. We did try long distance, but she cheated on me." He rolls his eyes as he gets off the highway. "I'm sorry, Bruce." He chuckles. "I mean, it hurt at the time, but the signs were there." You rest your hand on his thigh, giving a small squeeze.
"Hmm, one more ex. They're from college. Their name is Erin. We did everything together. We were together for like a year? But we broke up because Erin felt like we were going in different directions which I found out meant sleeping with their friends the whole time." Bruce frowns. "I'm sorry they did that to you, (Y/N)." You laugh to yourself. "It's been years. Plus I have you now."
Bruce scoffs, partly at you and the increased traffic. You're closer to the stadium. Your heart picks up as reality sets in. Though you do not have a ring, Bruce considers you his fiancé, his true love, and now you must meet people to make them believe it to be true. You glance over at Bruce who says nothing as his music stays darker, though you recognize the band now, Nirvana. You check your phone to see your mom sent an encouraging text. "Have fun at the game! Your father will be watching. Hope to see you on TV LOL." You smile at her excitement and make a mental note to invite them for the next time this should happen.
Bruce blows out a breath as he goes to the VIP parking. "I hope they let us in," He says almost to himself. You laugh, shaking your head. "You say that like you've forgotten who you are." His eyes are forward, "Perhaps I have." You wonder what he means by that as he pulls out his ID for the man at the entrance. The man waves his ID away. "You're really the Bruce Wayne?" Bruce squints up at the man, nodding. "Yes sir."
"Wow, you've sure grown up since the last time you were here." The man says as he lets the barrier up. Bruce gives an acknowledging nod as he pulls through. "I suspect I'll hear that a lot while we're here." You giggle, nodding. "You are the Prince of Gotham, my love. Everyone knows a little something about you."
The corners of his mouth dip down as he finds a spot close to the entrance of the stadium. You watch the crowd of people, seeing the tailgate parties on the other side and crowds of people heading in. "Has the game started yet?" You ask as he turns the car off. "Not yet, but it will soon." He doesn't make any movements to get out, glancing forward. He is almost statuesque with how still he is. He looks over at you, his blue eyes clear.
"Before we go in, I have to tell you something." You position yourself in your seat to face him better. "Thank you for doing this for me. Even if it turns out to be a PR marriage and not true love, I want you to know that I love you with everything in me. It's terrifying to me to say this out loud, admitting it out loud, so it can live in your heart as loudly as it has lived in mine." He reaches for your hands, kissing your knuckles. "I've never wanted to do something as much as I've wanted to marry you." Your eyebrows knit together as you try to figure out where he is going with this.
"I know this is all sudden and I know you're having doubts, but I want you to know that I will be with you no matter what happens. You are a very beautiful light in my life. You bring so much life and happiness I did not think I could possess. I can become addicted to your light so easily. So you test me as I'm drawn to you like a moth to a flame... Bats to the moonlight..."
He lets go of your hands as he sees someone coming to the car. It's a valet member. He gets out quickly, handing the man his keys as you try to wrap your mind around his confession and get out of the car.
