Four.

Friday.

Luna and Kat sat across from each other in the canteen. Luna scrolled through her social media pages as Kat caught up with some last minute homework.

"God, I hate this. I don't understand any of it!" Kat groaned in frustration before she pushed her notebook away from her. "Why do we have to study quotes from some 500 year old dude?" She grabbed her apple and viciously bit into her.

Luna looked up at her and rolled her eyes. 

"Watch your teeth, don't want your dad on your case." She simply told her as she scanned over Kat's work.

Kathleen's dad was a dentist. Her teeth had been perfect since the age of twelve and they always glistened in the light. Whether that was a regular cleaning or just genetics. Kat was lucky in that department. Her mom also was a dermatologist. Nothing but perfection from her. 

"You've gotten the quotes mixed up, that's why." Luna smiled as she pointed and ran her finger under a line of words. "Swap them around and find your sources." She tapped the page and slid it back over to Kat.

"This is ridiculous." Kat sighed as she crunched her food.

"Be not afraid of greatness." Luna told her.

Kat looked up at her and narrowed her eyes. "I will challenge you. I do not know a lot about this stuff but mark my words..." She warned.

"Though she be but little, she is fierce." Luna smiled as she continued to scroll on her phone. 

Kat sighed as she rummaged through her notes. She then spread a smug look across her face and nodded. "Boldness, be my friend." She told her.

Luna glanced up at her and frowned. "I hope you haven't written that one down. That's unnecessary in that essay." She told her.

"You know exactly what I mean!" Kat slapped her own hand down on top of Luna's free one.
"I am not going through this again..." Luna sighed as she stirred a little in her seat and sat up straight. 

"Hey, I have a great idea! Why don't you find Eddie and reacquaint a little? What is he going to do? Say no? I highly doubt that, if you two were so called inseparable, he'll be all for it." Kat told her closing over her notebook.

 "We have gone through the whole of high school, I'm not going to strike up a random conversation with him after all this time. Leave it alone." Luna widened her eyes before drawing them away from Kat.

Just then as if on cue, Kyle, Elliot and Wyatt slammed their trays down on the table.

"For goodness sake stop with that!" Kat told them before sighing. "Get some manners boys, I know your mom teaches some good ones!" She then pointed to Kyle.

"Eddie Munson called us nerds." Wyatt quickly told them.

"Sorry?" Kat asked as Luna shot her head up.

"Yup, we were walking to lunch as he passed us in the hallway." He nodded.

"I believe his words were ' Sup Nerds ' with a weird smile. I think he was being nice?" Elliot spoke up. 

"To be honest, I didn't feel offended by it. He seemed so cool about it." Wyatt chuckled.

"He's crazy! He wasn't being nice." Kyle butted in, obviously pissed off.

"Why are you so butthurt?" Kat then asked Kyle as she focused in on his reaction.

The four of them all began to talk over each other as Luna found herself looked up the canteen once again. There he was at his usual table, with his friends. He was laughing with an arm around the empty chair beside him. He swung backwards a little on his own chair and looked down the canteen and spotted Luna. 

They both stared at each other and this time Luna wasn't backing down. She cocked her head to one side slightly and smiled at him. Eddie instantly sat up and said something to his friends before he got up. 

He walked through everyone in the canteen and did not take his eyes off of Luna once. Everyone in his way parted like the red sea and before Luna knew it he had planted himself down on the seat across from her.

The table fell to silence.

Luna stared into his brown eyes.

"Miss Martin, it's been a while." He nodded with a smile.

"Are you harassing my brother?" Luna smirked at him.

"Who, Harry Potter over there? I can confirm I am not harassing him, no." He shook his head and then sat forward.

As Kyle stared at him rather offended, Eddie then laughed and shook his head. "Chill little dude, it's a compliment." He then widened his eyes.

"Your brother doesn't laugh much anymore." He then lowered his voice as he tapped the table with his finger.

"How would you know?" Kat then asked him as she frowned.

"Ah, Saunders. It's nice to officially meet you." He then held out his hand. "You see, Kyle and I go way back. You may not remember that little dude, your sister would know all about it. Right, Luna?" He smirked at her.

"Why are you calling my brother and his friends nerds?" Luna then asked him.

"Again, it was a compliment." He nodded

"Kind of backhanded, is it not?" Kat asked.

Eddie took his hand back as it was obvious Kat wasn't going to shake it. He held his hands up innocently and chuckled. "Did you invite me over here to gang up on me? I was just saying hello. I get it, I mean I'm also a nerd and I also hang out with them." He nodded.

"No one invited you over." Kyle told him.

"Your sister did." Eddie nodded.

Everyone looked at her. 

"With your eyes." He told her softly as he winked at her.

Luna stared at him with a smile she couldn't contain. "Well! That's that sorted, okay?" She nodded and turned to Kyle and the buys. "I'm sure you won't bother them again, unless you're being...nice." She told Eddie.

"Of course, yeah. Scouts honor." Eddie held up his hand. 

"Then I'll see you later." She lowered her head, but kept her eyes on him. Eddie smiled as he nodded. "I'll see you later." He repeated. He then stood up and took a little bow as he turned to the others. "Saunders. Cool nerds." Then he walked off.

They all sat in silence for a few seconds before Kat shook her head.

"What the fuck was that?!" She laughed.

"That was Edward Munson." Luna smiled.
