The next day.
"I'm actually really glad he showed up." Kat grinned at Luna as they sat in the cafeteria.
"Yeah, me too." Luna smiled.
"Aw look at you! You're glowing, damn." Kat giggled as she cooed a little.
"Oh be quiet!" Luna shook her head. "We were texting all night. It was just like old times, but with better phones and texting service." She laughed.
"Old times huh? Hope I'm not going to get pushed out." Kat raised an eyebrow and smiled.
"No. That is not going to happen to anyone now." Luna shook her head sternly.
"I was kidding. I'm just glad you're getting somewhere, bless." Kat smiled as she rested a hand onto Luna's.
Luna smiled and nodded. "Okay, back to your homework!" She rolled her eyes and laughed. Kat made a face, an obvious unhappy one before sighing. She turned and dug into her backpack as she pulled sheets of paper from it and sat them onto the table.
Luna scanned over the slightly scrunched up sheets and rolled her lips into a thin line. Kat never changes.
Just then her vison was blacked out by two hands covering her eyes. She gasped and jumped a little as a familiar raspy voice spoke into her ear.
"Guess who?!" He joked.
"Get off me Eddie!" Luna laughed with him as he planked himself down next to her and gave her a wink.
He turned to Kat and nodded at her. "Saunders, nice to see you again." He smiled.
"You too, please don't call me by my surname." She told him with wide eyes.
"My apologies, I'm going to call you Molly Ringwald." He nodded which made Kat frown in confusion.
"I'm sorry, come again?" She asked.
When Kat and Luna started hanging out together Eddie told her that she reminded him of Molly Ringwald. Even though she had longer hair, it was a vibrant red and her pale complexion was accompanied by freckles. Her hands were always perfectly manicured, and he used to joke Luna and her were like Allison and Claire from the breakfast club. How he found it odd they got on so well with how different they were. He clearly had a thing for the movie when Luna made him watch it.
"I can kind of see it." Patrick's deep voice then spoke up. Kat looked up at him and something in her changed. She smiled and her cheeks turned a little pink.
"Luna, Molly...Patrick and Nathan." Eddie raised his hand and introduced them all.
Patrick and Nathan both sat down and greeted them. "Is it okay we sit here?" Eddie then asked Luna quietly. "Of course." She smiled.
"How's Kyle?" He asked her as Kat got talking to Patrick and Nathan. Luna sighed and shrugged. "Okay. I mean, once Elliot and Wyatt left last night he did what he usually does. Stayed in his room and left occasionally for the bathroom and a glass of soda. His room was quiet by eleven, that's when he went to sleep." She shrugged.
Eddie gave her a reassuring look as he ran his hand up down her back in a comforting manner.
"He hardly spoke to me this morning in the car and then just headed off to class once we got here." She rolled her eyes.
"Did...did he seemed pissed off about yesterday?" Eddie asked her.
"What about it?" She asked confused.
"About me being at the house." He nodded.
"Why would he be pissed off at that?" Luna frowned.
"I don't know..." Eddie shrugged.
Luna quickly shook her head. "I told you, it's been a few weeks. I mean, it's gotten worse over the past week or two but..."
"Did it get worse after our little encounter in the hallway?" Eddie then asked her.
Luna stared at him. "Kyle doesn't hate you, Eddie." She reassured him.
"I'm just putting pieces together - "
" - He's known you for years! He doesn't." Luna quickly told him with a smile.
"Like I said, a lot of people talk at this school. We didn't talk for as long..." Eddie shrugged. "A lot of bullshit flies around. Maybe we could try and see, so we can get to the root of the issue and try resolve it?" He asked.
Luna smiled at him and nodded.
Kyle, Elliot and Wyatt walked through the cafeteria, trays in hand. They noticed the girls at the usual table, but this time they had company.
"Will they be sitting with us now?" Elliot asked as the boys stopped and stared.
"For fucks sake." Kyle hissed under his breath.
"Oh he's not such a bad guy. He seemed cool last night, he's kinda just like us!" Wyatt grinned.
"Trust me, he's far from cool. He's a dick." Kyle shook his head.
Elliot and Wyatt glanced at each other. "Come on man, he can't be that bad. Your sister is a good person, she wouldn't hang out with him if he was any different." Wyatt told him.
Kyle rolled his eyes as he began to walk off in the opposite direction.
"Hey, where are you going dude?!" Elliot called after him.
"To find somewhere to sit and eat lunch! You can sit with them, but I'm not!" Kyle called out before he turned around and continued on walking.
Elliot and Wyatt sighed as they shook their headed before they started following.
"Seriously, what is his beef with Eddie?" Wyatt asked.
"I don't know. Didn't he and Luna used to talk years ago? He obviously can't be as bad as what Kyle is portraying him to be, I just don't get his problem." Elliot shrugged.
