Luna followed Eddie into the kitchen as she continued to look around the house.
"Now unfortunately we don't have anything special on tonight's menu." He turned around to her as he stopped at the refrigerator. She was standing staring at him frowning and he turned back around and opened up the freezer.
"We have pizza! Cheese sliders! Mac n cheese!" He began to list off in an overly obnoxious voice. Luna sighed as she walked up to him.
"Um, when were you going to tell me the obvious?" She asked him.
"You don't like sliders right?" He looked at her.
"I'm serious Eddie!" She tugged hard on his jacket as he sighed.
"Okay. Let's get serious." He looked at her.
"Why didn't you tell me you moved? When did you move?" She asked.
"We moved...two years ago? Just around sophomore year...we were going to lose the house Luna, my dad and I just decided to jump from the sinking ship before it took us down with it." He sighed, lowering his head to hide it from her vision.
"I didn't tell you because we weren't exactly talking. That'd been weird. Hey remember me! Turns out, my dad and I are broke...and I'm moving halfway across town. You fancy getting some burgers after school?!" He told her sarcastically.
Luna sighed as she rested her hand onto his shoulder.
"To be honest, I would've preferred that. I hate you couldn't talk to me...I'm so sorry Eddie." Luna's eyes saddened as she shook her head.
"Hey, you have no reason to be sorry. Life...happens." Eddie looked at her.
They both stared at each other as Luna realized she still had her hand on his shoulder. She then smiled before Mr Munson walked into the kitchen.
"Well I'm going to head off soon, kids." Ivan sighed as he packed a bag.
"Kay, dad." Eddie gave him a smile.
"Luna, how are you parents?" Ivan asked as he zipped up the bag and sat it on the small counter next to him and an old looking coffee machine.
"They are...good. They're doing good thank you, they're always asking for you both." Luna admitted to them as she clasped her hands together.
"Aw god bless, we appreciate that. It's been a while since we all saw each other." Ivan sighed as he scratched the back of his head. "Maybe we could all do lunch or dinner sometime?"
Eddie looked over at him with slightly wide eyes as he glanced at Luna.
Luna smiled and nodded. "Yeah, they'd love that. We'd love that to be honest." She turned to Eddie, trying to convince him more.
"Great! It's settled, we'll get a time sorted!" Ivan grinned. "How are you doing at school? Still writing?" He then asked.
"Yes. Kind of, it's mostly essays and homework right now." Luna laughed.
"As long as you're still doing it. You'd always have your nose in a good book. How is little Kyle?! Still into make believe and fantasy games?" He raised an eyebrow and Luna giggled.
"He's not so little anymore and actually yes." She admitted and watched as Ivan laughed.
"Yeah, so is this one though!" He pointed to Eddie and watched as he went a little red."Dad!" Eddie shook his head.
"Sorry! I'm sorry, Luna knows. You guys grew up together..." He trailed off before yawning. He then blinked a few times and sighed before glancing at his watch.
"I'm sorry to leave you like this, but duty calls. Luna, hon we need to get a proper catch up soon! The same with your mom and dad, we'll get a date." He told her as he threw his bag over his shoulder."...Don't burn the house down." He quickly looked at Eddie and smiled. "Stay safe..." He told them before eyeing them both up. " He nodded. "See you later!" He then waved and walked out the kitchen. After a few seconds the front door opened and closed, followed by the engine of the truck outside before it drove off.
Eddie sighed as he looked at Luna as if he was slightly uncomfortable. "As you can see, my father is still as embarrassing as always." He chuckled.
"I love your dad!" Luna laughed with him. "Your parents were great..." She then trailed off as she realized what she was saying.
Eddie scanned over her face as he nodded sentimentally. "They were. Too bad the love wore off..." He then sighed and looked back into the freezer which had been slowly defrosting over the past five minutes.
He then sighed a little defeated as he shrugged. Luna glanced into the freezer and plastered a grin over her face.
"Oh my gosh, hot pockets! I've not had these in ages." She grabbed them out and started opening the box. She grabbed a couple of plates from the counter across the kitchen and started to nod as if a brilliant plan was knitting together in her brain.
"Hot pockets...chips..." She listed off as she opened a couple of cupboards and spotted some Kraft mac and cheese. "...and mac and cheese!" She turned back to Eddie who was slowly closing over the freezer whilst eyeballing her.
"Mac and cheese, a couple of hot pockets and some chips for desert...if we're still hungry." She told him.
Eddie stared over at her in awe as he tried to contain a smile.
"What?" Luna laughed.
"God, I've missed you Luna Martin." He told her.
Luna's cheeked beamed as she shook her head. "Well do we have a plan?" She asked.
"We do." He nodded.
"Okay, grab some pots and help." She giggled as he slid his jacket off and threw it up onto a counter. He swiped his sleeves up his arms from his baseball band tee as he began to help out. He walked up to Luna and opened a cabinet beside her before removing a silver pot and twirling the handle in his hand, making the pot rotate a few times.
Luna opened up the box of pasta. "I've missed you too." She quietly told him as she turned her head slightly. She then continued on with what she was doing as Eddie stared at her with a warm smile.
