Harry

After three more classes, it was lunch.. which meant nothing for me. I was free to sit by myself and stare at my hands for 30 minutes before getting to go back to class while others got to talk, gossip, and enjoy some lunch.

I, on the other hand, needed to lose weight.. so.. I just kinda don't eat. Well- If I say that, people think I have a problem. I eat. I just have a small salad or a piece of bread every now and again. I eat, just small amounts.

I'm fat, and I know it. My stomach rolls a little when I sit and it disgusts me.

I find myself at my usual empty table and I stare at my hands and pick at my nails, like always.. My bag is sitting in the floor next to me and I'm enjoying the feeling of the third pain killer I took right before the bell for lunch rang..

Then a tray gets placed on the table in front of me and a body sits, and a bag drops, and I'm greeted with dashing blue eyes, a stunning smile, and that soothing voice.

"Hello, Harry"

I stared at the new kid and wanted to say a billion things.. Like, ask why he's there or why he chose to sit by me or if he will keep his mouth shut about what he thinks he saw in first hour

but all I manage is a raspy "Hi" then I clear my throat and try again

"erm- Hi" I repeat

"Bring your own lunch? Didn't see you in line up there" he frowned

"uhm" lie lie lie "I'm still sick from this morning."

"here, share my meatloaf" he cut the meatloaf in half and turned the plate so it was between us. He knew I was lying.. and he completely ignored it

I looked at the meat for a moment.. How many calories would that piece have in it? How much weight would I gain? too much. I'd be fat and ugly.

"Look, Louis.. I. I don't do friends. Everyone here knows that. It's like a.. a rule or something, okay? You're new, learn it"

I went to stand and grab my bag from the floor, but he reached out with his foot and slid it away from me.. Specifically, he slid it under his own seat and kept it between his legs

"I don't follow other people's rules. Learn that."

I stared at this boy and felt tears prickling in my eyes just from his hard stare

"Sit, Harry. Please" he softened up a little and I gave in

"I know what I saw" he said after a moment of silence

"Don't tell anyone" I whispered

He didn't say anything.

"You can't. You- I... listen, no one wants me in the first place. If this gets out, then I'll be more of a freak than I already am. You can't tell, Louis, come on, mate, please"

Tears were rolling at this point

He stood, picked up mine and his bag, and then grabbed my hand. I winced a little but I was fine. We abandoned his half eaten tray at my usually empty table as he lead me through the cafeteria, past everyone.. and of course, everyone looked

But this time, not just at me..

At my hand

In his

Once we were out of the cafeteria, we didn't stop. He kept walking, kept tugging me along with him, until we were at the football field across from the school. We stopped when we were under the bleachers.

He let go of my hand and sat on the cement. He motioned to the area next to him.

I reluctantly sat.

I wouldn't be here if he didn't have my bag...
