The fever had passed a day ago. Yet, Damian was still hot. This time not with illness, with anger. Raven could feel it. This overwhelming, unforgiving anger that she felt. She felt that same anger for her father.
The smell of sweat was rich from the training room. The punching of a punch bag made clear by the sound and the grunting that followed each hit. Inside the room, a sweating and raging Damian. Shirt off, sweat gliding down his forehead and his chest. Not the first time Raven had seen this.
A year ago, just after they started their relationship, a criminal had somehow managed to grab a meta human power dampening gun and used it on Raven. Seeing as she was more vulnerable in that state, Damian's brows furrowed and he smashed the man's face against the alley wall in pure anger. He was only calmed down once Raven's powers had returned and she used them to alter his emotion, something she hated doing to him in bad situations.
"Why have you returned?!" Punch. "What do you want now?!" Punch. "How much more do you want FROM ME?!" Punch. The bag was separated from its hook and smacked into the wall.
Damian looked on in sorrow before bowing his head down and falling to his knees. The League was back and he couldn't bring himself to accept it. For him, the League meant pain and suffering. A gang of psychopaths which he never chose to be a part of.
Damian flinched slightly when he felt a warm hand encompass his own. The hand that often brought him comfort and smelled of lavender. Raven made sure to give him her strength, for this matter especially.
"We will stop them." Raven said boldly.
She brought Damian's chin up and made him look her in the eyes. His eyes full of sadness bad and sorrow. Her eyes full of confidence and determination. This was the strength he needed and she would provide it to him.
"This isn't your fight, Beloved. The League is my responsibility and I must make it right." Damian explained. His eyes now closed and head lowered slightly.
"Trigon wasn't your fight." Raven replied in a monotone voice.
Damian looked up in surprise. His eyes wide and round. Clearly this was something she was not letting he up for debate.
"Yet you came. You helped me, even though I told you it was hopeless and something you didn't need to get involved with. I will help you with this, because I love you and your fights are my fights." Raven said quietly. Her confidence not once leaving her. A bright hope lit up in her eyes that Damian craved.
"It will be dangerous. I don't want you to get hurt... or worse." Damian sadly and pointlessly protested.
"I have to take the chance." Raven said with a bright smile. Damian did his best to copy that smile. Unsuccessful, he just ended up kissing her. Absorbing all of that confidence and emphasising his gratitude and love.
Raven leaned into the kiss. He hands raising to his head. One wrapped around his neck, the other placed on his cheek. A comforting and loving gesture that told him, she was there, she was going to help.
"So how do we find them?" Raven said after confidently raising to her feet, followed soon by Damian. His expression now determined.
"We don't. Not yet; we need to wait for their next attack after we find a clue to these targets they have. After that we can ambush them." Damian confidently explained.
"So we need to look into these people that they've killed. But, you did that and you came up empty." Raven replied. Last time Damian threw himself into that investigation, he ended up falling asleep in Raven's arms.
"I did. But, we need more information. I've hacked into cameras that are located near the last two attacks. If the alarm triggers we can stop them and gain more info." Damian explained.
Raven understood perfectly. It was a trap for the League. One that could work. She had to do her best on this. She had to help Damian as he had helped her before, as he still does.
After their plan was formed and finalise, they headed to the kitchen and made some lunch. The lovely smell of McDonald's came to Raven's nose. An excited look overtook her as a smug one took over Damian's. Especially after Raven paid him with a long kiss.
As they sat at the clear and modern table in the middle of the room, Raven spoke up and gave Damian the grave news that he hoped was going to take longer to come.
"I'm really sorry by the way, but Kori said the wedding will take place in a few days." Regretfully spoke.
"How the fuck do they do all this in such a short amount of time?!" Damian yelled, making Raven laugh.
Imma fucking pass out now 😂
So... tired 😂
