For once all was well. For once there was no conflict. For once there was peace. Raven couldn't remember the last time this was the case. Although there was plenty of reason for that.
This was what Gotham was like during the day. Far different from Jump City, but Jump didn't have Batman.
This was one day that Raven had been afraid of for a while. Since she found out she was pregnant, she feared revealing it all to her future father-in-law. She knew that Damian had been keeping Bruce updated on her powers and the Dark Raven stuff, but the marriage and the pregnancy were entirely different matters.
Damian wouldn't admit that he wanted to reveal it with Raven. Whether out of fear or respect for Raven's own privacy she didn't know, but there wasn't much to suggest it wasn't both.
As Raven sat there in the car she began to wonder just how much Bruce might already know. He wasn't the world's greatest detective for nothing.
If Raven was really afraid of anyone, besides her father and, to some extent, Damian, it was Batman. He was only human, but he is able to defeat someone as powerful as Superman. He was an extensive planner and probably had at least ten ways to bring down the entire superhero population.
"You remember Grayson's wedding don't you?" Damian asked, pulling her out of her thoughts.
"Yeah, why?" Raven asked, her leg beginning to shake as they approached the gate to Wayne Manor.
"Then you remember what my father told you?" Damian said, referring to when Bruce confirmed he had a positive opinion of Raven.
"This is different. I wasn't pregnant when he said that and we weren't engaged." Raven replied.
"True. But Father should not be too concerned with the engagement. At least not as much as the pregnancy."
"That doesn't reassure me."
"I'll be there with you."
"You should be, he's your father."
"I love you."
"I love you too. Is that meant to calm me down as well?"
"Did it?"
"A little bit."
That effect did not last. It was as she exited the car that she noticed Alfred Pennyworth standing by the door, holding it open for Raven and Damian to enter.
"Welcome, Master Damian, Miss Raven." The butler said politely.
"Pennyworth. Father still keeping you busy?" Damian humorously asked.
"Your father doesn't know how to not make things busy, Master Damian. How are you Miss Raven?" Alfred said.
"I'm ok, Mr.Pennyworth. How are you?" Raven shyly asked. Despite there long time dating, Raven had only met Alfred four times. Safe to say she hadn't lost the nervousness yet.
"I am well. You don't need to be so formal. You may simply call me Alfred." He said with a smile on his face.
"I'm sorry. Thank you, Alfred. I'm glad you seem to be well." Raven kindly said.
Upon further entering the manor, Damian and Raven saw Bruce enter the living room. Knowing how awkward and formal this was, they entered the room where the Dark Knight seemed to be waiting.
As they walked into the room a nervous aura seemed to overwhelm Raven. She didn't have the ability to sense emotions anymore, but she knew that she was beyond terrified. She instinctively grabbed Damian's hand and held on tight.
She felt some reassurance as Damian coiled his fingers around hers. She was definitely lucky to have him.
"I trust you have somethings to tell me." Bruce said in a nonchalant voice. There was no reading him at all.
"Father, we-"
"I would like to hear from Raven first I'm afraid, Damian." Bruce interrupted.
Raven's eyes widened. That was definitely not a good sign for her in her opinion. She was absolutely riddled with fear and she tightened her grip on Damian's hand.
"U-um. Mr.Wayne, I-I have become engaged to your son." Raven anxiously said.
"I know that. Congratulations, I'm happy for you. Anything else you want to tell me?" Bruce asked, looking Raven directly in the eyes.
Raven expected Damian to retort to his father, but that simply wasn't the case. She couldn't blame him at all either. This was the worst part for her now, though.
"I... am... pregnant with... Damian's child. Your grandchild, Sir." Raven said with all the confidence she had left.
Bruce's eyes widened, he clearly didn't know that part. Now it was time for the reaction. This could easily destroy Raven or make her stupidly happy.
"Alfred! Get the champagne! I'm gonna be a grandfather!!" Bruce said with the widest smile Damian had ever seen on him.
Raven felt the weight of the world lift off her shoulders. She could now breath and feel peace knowing that she had nothing to hide and everyone would support her and Damian.
Raven smiled as she felt joy flood her once again. She tearfully embraced Damian, feeling all her fear leave her. Damian simply wrapped his arms around her after giving her a soft kiss. Bruce quickly gave Damian a thumbs up when he had opened his eyes. Something Damian really smiled at.
"I love you." Damian heard Raven whisper into his ear.
Damian smiled even more before replying.
"I love you too." He said.
"Yeah ok lovebirds. Champagne is here drink up. Raven you have whatever you want that's not alcoholic." Bruce said from the other side of the room.
They joined Bruce and felt all of the pressure in the world vanish. For this moment they allowed themselves to be happy.
Damian also allowed himself to be drunk...
