Raven seemed sure. The way she looked down at her lap with an uneasy expression on her face. The expression told everyone who saw it that she wanted to be fine, wanted to be ok, but it just wasn't the case.
Her eyes told a different message to her face. She was distraught. She was helpless. But the way she viewed it was that she was useless. She could no longer do anything to help people, she could no longer face enemies, she could no longer protect Damian in the field.
Speaking of whom, the surprised look on Damian's face had become cemented. He was in awe of the news his girlfriend had just given him.
It was not until he regained a sense of reality, whilst Raven expectantly stared at him, that he really took it in. She was without her powers. In his eyes she was very vulnerable and needed his protection now more than ever.
"Dami?" Raven quietly said.
"H-how do you feel?"
"Huh? I feel fine." She told him, curious as to where he was going with this.
Damian's eyes were still fairly wide and he looked like he wanted to help an endangered animal on the verge of extinction. Not quite the case with Raven, but it seemed close.
"Does the a-area feel different? The aura?" Damian tried to piece together his sentence and it was the first time he struggled.
"Oh, you mean like with all the emotions and... our bond?" Raven figured out.
"Yes! Is our bond gone? Do things feel different now, that sorta thing?"
"Well, our bond is still there. The only thing is that it's harder to access." Damian breathed a sigh of relief knowing that one precious thing was still there. "As for everything else... it feels the same, but almost quieter. Just knowing something is different is what I mainly think about." Raven explained.
Damian suddenly pulled out a notebook and began writing down notes on what Raven just said.
Raven was surprised at Damian's intention to note things down. This wasn't too special in terms of being a couple, which is why Raven wondered why he was noting it down. It's not like Damian would know how to get her powers back.
"Why are you writing stuff down?" Raven asked.
"So I remember it. It is must-have info and I can't forget it."
"What's so special about it?"
"It goes with the notebook I have for when you're on your period." Damian blurted out.
Raven's eye twitched in discomfort as she thought of that notebook that she just learned about.
"You... have a notebook... for when I'm on my period...?"
Damian's eyes widened again and he quickly looked int the complete opposite direction. This had been a secret of his since the second month of their relationship when Raven kicked him out due to not being able to have McDonald's.
"U-um... n-no. It is a notebook on a time my father calls me which I call the period." Damian shamefully lied.
"You know you're a bad liar when you're scared. Mr I'm not afraid of anything, you appear to be afraid of me and my gender based problems." Raven darkly whispered.
Damian froze and he quickly tore up the notebook before he ran over to the bedside drawers and retrieved the notebook. He grabbed a match and held the book underneath.
"Wait! I wanna read it!" Raven yelled.
"Why?!"
"Because I want to see what you have written about me... Dami." Raven said sinisterly.
Thirty minutes later and Damian had a hand on his butt slapping him silly. Things had turned sour very quickly.
"I WHINE ABOUT NOT HAVING FAST FOOD AND MAKE YOUR TEA TASTE LIKE SHIT WHEN I'M ON MY PERIOD?! YOU THINK I NEED A DOCTOR APPOINTMENT BECAUSE I SMASH THINGS AND TEAR THE BED SHEETS UP?! I'm on my period, there are things I can't control and I need to vent anger. Now I will just have to SPANK YOU INSTEAD!!!" Raven had been less than pleased to read the contents of the notebook.
Needless to say, Damian had made several complaints about Raven's period. A lot of them included countermeasures for such things and Raven found it all ridiculous.
"I'm sorry!! I'm sorry!! Please! Not even Bane has given me this much pain!" Damian yelled like a child.
"You're lucky I don't have my... powers." Raven began to say before she looked down in sadness again.
Damian looked at her and saw that expression again. Immediately, he began to hug her and she forgot all about the notebook.
"Damian, am I useless now?" Raven tearfully asked.
"No. Never. You're the reason I am who I am today, Raven. I never said I love you for your powers. I love you for who you are and as long as you're with me, you shall never be deemed useless." Damian lovingly confessed to Raven.
Even after that she cried into his shoulder and thanked Damian for his words, telling him that she loves him.
Afterwards they decide to head out for a walk.
