Did Raven feel different? Yes. Did she now have her powers back? No. That process would apparently take a while to prepare compared to last time. Was she in pain? A huge amount.
She had woken up feeling insanely sick. She felt as if her head was going to explode, her body shatter, and just about everything destroy itself.
Her eyes were worried, scared even. She had no idea what had happened, she felt fine the previous day. Well, fine for a pregnant person having morning sickness constantly and getting cramps. But... this was different. It was too intense. There was not enough information to understand a cause of illness or anything else.
She couldn't taste, her mouth was dry beyond belief. She could barely see, a result of tiredness most likely. She could just about move, so she moved. Only slightly, but enough to nudge Damian into waking up. Exactly as planned.
Damian's eyes slowly opened. His one amethyst eye seeming to have a slight glow to it. It was like he was inspecting Raven for any signs of worry. He found some.
"Raven, what's wrong?" Damian asked worried as he moved one hand to stroke her cheek.
"I... I feel terrible. So fucking shit." Raven murmured out. Seemingly lacking the strength or energy to speak properly.
"Describe it to me. If you can."
"I can barely move. I'm so cold. I'm in so much pain."
Damian quickly embraced her and started stroking the back of her head lovingly. He closed his eyes as he slowly and gently comforted her.
"Dami. I hate this feeling." Raven whispered.
"I know. Just close your eyes. Listen to my voice and focus on me. Just try and relax." Damian calmly ordered.
"Ok."
Raven closed her eyes as she started to feel a sense of comfort from Damian. The pain slowly dissipating. The fatigue giving way to more sleepiness. The world getting quieter and peaceful.
"You're ok. You're ok. Just relax. Think about nothing. If you think about anything then let it be me. Let it be out baby. Let it be some nice pizza I'm gonna buy you later." Damian joked.
"Mmm haha." Raven quietly laughed. She could feel herself slowly slipping back to sleep. She held her arm firmly around Damian's back.
"I'm here, Beloved. I'm here. I'm not going anywhere. Just let it all float away."
"Damian."
"Yes?"
"You're strange." Raven silently joked.
"And why's that?" Damian curiously and humorously asked.
"Because this is a new thing from you. Deadly assassin knows how to comfort his future wife so soothingly. That's not something I think I'll get used to you know." Raven whispered. Laughing slightly, she moved closer to Damian and snaked her other arm around him comfortably.
"I can do other things you know!" Damian told her with a fake disgusted tone.
"I know. Thank you." Raven said as she slowly drifted off to sleep.
Damian smiled and kissed her forehead. Seeing how it was only three am, Damian also saw fit to return to sleep.
He carefully and lovingly stroked whatever bump Raven had from her pregnancy and cooed to it. Understanding that his new child was going to be there at some point. Now, he had a duty he felt to exercise: the protection of his family.
