A look of anger was all she got from that assassin. The emotions matching perfectly. Clearly, this assassin was pissed that he had failed to capture Raven.
Raven could see Damian, clearly uncomfortable. His face down as he leaned against the wall opposite her, a raging storm of anger building up inside of him. His arms folded, allowing no one to try and talk to him.
Aside from Raven.
"Dami, I'm fine." Raven blurred out. Her eyes containing a sympathetic and thankful look.
"He could've taken you away! That's not fine! You were stabbed in the arm with a tranquilliser. I don't call that fine." Damian argued. His face only looking more angry.
"I can handle that! I can handle much worse than that!" Raven yelled.
"Can you?! Of course you can! But, have you wondered if I can handle it?!" Damian retorted.
Raven's eyes widened slightly, a confused look overcoming the anger she herself had for Damian thinking she was made of glass. She liked the attention. She loved how much Damian would worry in serious situations, it was the same case for her. But, this was one assassin, hardly a threat.
"What are you talking about?" Raven asked.
Damian looked down, this time in embarrassment. "Forget it. It doesn't matter." He coldly said.
"No. Tell me. Please." Raven sympathetically told him. She approached him and was close to holding his arm, but thought it best that he get it out first.
After a long sigh Damian obliged and began to talk. "You don't know the League. Even some of the other threats we face make me worry. I've seen enough people die from enemies that should've been easy. I can't bare that to happen to the person I love. I'd never be able to forgive myself." Damian explained with closed eyes. His eyes closing tighter and tighter as he talked. It was clearly painful for him.
Raven's mouth was slightly open, unable to say anything. She had felt something similar for a long time. Of course she could understand. But, this was different for Damian. He doesn't have any powers. He can't heal Raven if she can't heal herself. There really isn't much he could do other than fighting anyone who threatened her.
Raven only moved to engulf him in her arms. Her head lying right next to his. Her hand stroking his soft hair. She could feel him just melt into the hug, only wanting to be with her, in her arms.
Raven's eyes began to water. She really didn't want to cry. Her makeup would definitely suffer, but so would Damian. She didn't think he needed to suffer anymore.
Raven slowly pulled away, placing her forehead against his. Her hand on his cheek, thumb stroking it gently. Her other hand resting on his neck to his jaw. Damian leaning into the touch, making a face that said he was comfortable there.
"I know you're worried. I get worried too, about you and what could happen. But, we can't let this get to us. This is what we do, we fight for people and risk our lives." Raven gave him a small kiss on the lips before continuing, simply trying to comfort him. "Believe me, I don't want to lose you, ever. I want us to be together for as long as possible. So I'll keep protecting you and you keep protecting me. Don't make me lose the man I love." Raven sincerely finished.
Damian's eyes opened and he quickly kissed Raven was an intense need. His need and love were on fire. He sniffled slightly, his eyes beginning to water. He let a tear out and close his eyes again before dropping his head to Raven. Still, she stroked and comforted him as he whimpered slowly.
This was the first time Raven had seen him cry.
"I love you. I will never lose you. I will protect you. This is why I'm going to find the League and bring them down. I will do everything I can to ensure they fail and do the same for anyone who tries to lay a hand on you." Damian confidently muttered.
Raven smiled. He was being his usual self again. It was surreal to see Damian cry. It had never happened before and she felt so much more in love with him; finally showing his weakest level and letting her help him. After all this time of Damian protecting his emotions, other than what he allowed Raven to see, it was all out.
"Thank you. I love you too. Just try and sound less cliché in the future." Raven laughed.
Damian pulled himself away, still maintaining a grip on her arms.
"Says you, I've never heard a speech like that before." Damian laughed out. This earned him a playful slap from Raven.
Eventually the playing evolved into making out from the passion they were receiving with the situation.
They were quickly interrupted by a stoic Batman, who was unsurprised to see the couple the way they were.
He held the door to the interrogation room open for them both.
"He's ready to talk now." Batman said.
