Chapter 51

Klaus

Dahlia's voice echoed in my head "the bond of family is not a bond forged on choice. In fact, some would see family as a terrible burden" she said. Suddenly, I wake up with a gasp, only I'm no longer daggered in the compound instead, I am laying on the ground in a village near a forest where I am half-leaning against a stone wall that wraps around a small cottage. I breathe deeply as I take in my surroundings, and eventually notice that Dahlia is standing in front of me with a small smirk on her face. "And thus, Niklaus, you find yourself here with me".

"Dahlia" I said with a sighs and looked down at my chest to find that the dagger is gone, but I am still bleeding from a wound right in front of my heart. "What have you done to me" and and stand to my feet and approach her "where is my daughter, where is Star" I asked mad and lunge for Dahlia, but she vanishes into thin air, only to reappear behind me, making me more frustrated.

"Get out of my head" I yelled and Dahlia smiles "I'm not in your head, you're in mine. And, seeing as you lie daggered by your own beloved brother, you have no choice but to listen. I have a proposition for you, come along" she said and started to walk away from the cottage, farther into the village. I watch her unhappy and suspicious as I reluctantly follow behind her.

Elijah

I have just arrived in the bell tower of the cathedral to meet with Freya and determine the next step in our plan. Freya has begun to panic when I update her on recent events "Hayley is gone?! You need to get her and the baby back here, immediately, what does Star think of this" Freya asked mad. "Right now Star is as out of control as Klaus was, she doesn't seen to care much that Hope is with Hayley, just as long as she is safe" I told Freya.

"Where is she" "at the compound, I had Davina put a spell around her room so she can't leave it and try to undagger Klaus" I said. "We need Hope back here" Freya said "when Dahlia has been defeated. For now, everyone is safe" I said to her calmly. Freya frantically starts setting up the components of a spell "nowhere is safe from Dahlia, and we will have no chance of ending her without that baby and my magic". "What are you saying" I asked suspicious.

"Dahlia is protected by a powerful magic. We have collected items that represent her vulnerabilities. Sacred soil, the ash of a fallen Viking, and the blood of the witch who broke her heart" Freya said "yours" I said "yes, now, I will use these ingredients to create a "killing ground" where Dahlia will be rendered mortal, but we need to lure her there, Elijah". "Are you suggesting that I position my niece as bait" I asked and Freya stops setting up her spell, but remains speechless, which I take as a yes.

"Well, how wonderfully convenient, to offer this strategy when Niklaus has been removed" I said. "Klaus cannot be reasoned with" "you cannot honestly believe I would allow you to do this" I said. Freya speaks impatiently "what I believe is you will make the right choice for Hope. There is no other way to keep her from the miserable existence I endured under the slavery of a tyrant" Freya said.

"Of course, if Dahlia does die, you will also be free of that tyranny. No more running, no more hiding. So, do not insult my intelligence by painting your actions as selfless" I said looking at some candles. "Elijah I need my magic and as long as Star has that ring on she has all of my power. Now get me my power" Freya said mad and pointing her finger at me as I just stared at her in silence.

Star

I sat in the corner of my room with a big sweatshirt on and my hair hung down. My knees were up to my chest as I stared at the floor with dried tears on my cheeks. I heard footsteps and looked up to see Elijah standing in the doorway. "Why are you here" I asked mad "Freya needs her magic back" Elijah said and I stood up. "Why, so you can stop me too" I asked mad. "Klaus was going out of control" Elijah said walking into the room. "He was trying to protect out daughter" I said and Elijah was silent. "He is your brother Elijah; you say you're not like Klaus but now you are more like him then you even realize" I raised my voice at him.

"Star, we are all trying to protect Hope, right now the only way to do that is if Klaus is out of the way and Freya has her magic" Elijah said. I looked at his open hand before looking at me "you're going to have to kill me first" I said mad. "Star" "no, you want to know something, you hate Klaus and he didn't even do anything" I said and Elijah looked at me confused. "Klaus didn't kill Aiden., he just took the blame because of some insane dictator-edict about making people fear him" I said. Elijah looked at me horrified by this revelation, but after a moment, he settles down and says nothing.

"You can't just leave us like this while our daughter is in danger" I almost yelled at him. "How long are you gonna leave him like that, five years, ten, a lifetime" I asked? "'Til Hope is safe" Elijah said and my mouth closes "from Dahlia or us" I asked and Elijah was silent. I turned away from him and sat on the bed, hearing Elijah's footsteps leave the room. Once I knew he was gone I stood back up and pointed my hand at the window, chanting some words, trying to bring the spell down but nothing was working.

I scream in anger and started to knock things over, not caring what was happening around me. I threw things around the room until I felt this pain in my head and passed out, falling to the ground. When I opened my eyes I gasped and quickly sat up, looking around to see I was in this village. I looked around confused before hearing footsteps behind me. I quickly stood up and turned around to see Klaus and Dahlia coming around a corner.

Klaus stopped when he saw me and I looked at him in disbelief "Klaus" I said almost in tears "Star" Klaus said confused but also in disbelief. I ran up to him and wrapped my arms around his neck as my tears started to fall. Klaus wrapped his arms around me as well "I thought I lost you" I said. "I'm so sorry" Klaus said looking me in the eyes "it's okay, just don't scare me like that again, please" I said and kissed him as he kissed me back.

I pulled away and looked at Dahlia "you" I said mad and took a step towards her but Klaus grabbed my hand, stopping me. I turned to Klaus confused before looking back at Dahlia "where am I" I asked "in my head, I figured you both should see what I have to show you, follow me" she said with a smile and started to walk away. I looked at Klaus hesitantly as he nods and we both follow her.
