Klaus and I have been driving for awhile, heading to Hope. Klaus is driving fast down the road until finally be pull into a long driveway that leads to a two story house. Klaus quickly parks the black SUV and I get out with Klaus fallowing farther behind. I stop when I see Hope in Elijah's arms, looking over at me and smiling. Elijah hands Hope to me and I get nervous to hold her, but soon relax when she's fully in my arms. "Hi" I said with a smile to Hope.
I turn around to see Klaus near tears and too overwhelmed to move. I walk over to Klaus so he can see hope and she coos happily, making Klaus and I both laugh and smile down at her. I hold Hope in my arms and walk over to Rebekah and Elijah to talk, while we talk Elijah and Klaus gather wood to make a fire. "Curse on the first-born? What the bloody hell is that supposed to mean" Rebekah asks as we start to talk. "Well, according to Finn, our sister Freya didn't die of plague. She was taken as payment by our aunt Dahlia, who then cursed all Mikaelson first-borns for eternity" Klaus says.
"Is any of this true" I asked concerned "it is if we are to believe Finn, who learned it from the bastion of truth, our mother" Elijah said, not to happy. "Well, no wonder Finn hates us. He lost the sister he adored, and instead got a judgy pack of siblings who found him unbearably dull" Rebekah says. "Great, so, is there any chance of us running into your loony aunt Dahlia any time soon" I ask? "The fable's over a thousand years old. Dahlia is long dead" Elijah said.
"Like Esther was suppose to be" I say more of a whisper but everyone heard me. "No one's going to hurt Hope, because no one's going to find her. There's enough wood, Rebekah. You'll burn down the whole bloody state of Arkansas" Klaus says, changing the subject. Rebekah rubs her hands together "well, we're just missing a key ingredient". Klaus sighs "no, we're not" "yes, we are, Nik! Back me up, Elijah" Rebekah says. Elijah laughs "I suspect Niklaus would rather choke on the ashes".
"What are you all talking about" I ask confused "well, before we light it, we write down our wishes for each other to burn for luck! Then we all buy each other gifts. It was Kol's favorite part when we were kids" Rebekah says. "It's further evidence as to why we should ignore it" Klaus says. "Hope's first bonfire season. I like it, we're doing it" I said and hand Hope to Rebekah before rushing inside for paper. I hear Rebekah say one last thing before I enter the house "see, this is why I like her". I smile and head inside.
After getting Rebekah's and Elijah's wish I head in the dining room to see Klaus is holding Hope. He's smiling big and looks up at me as I smile "your good with her" I say and sit next to him. "Call it a father's instincts" Klaus says, looking at Hope. "I still think Hayley should be here" I said, glancing at the ground. Klaus sighs "you are this child's mother weather you want to admit it or not" Klaus said. I sigh and slide the pencil and paper over to him "here".
Klaus continues to look at Hope "I'm holding a small child, Star. This silly wish game will have to wait". I smile "you write, I'll hold" "you do realize I'm not your husband that you can just boss around" Klaus says. "Yes, but you do realize that I had to endure horrendous labor and actual death birthing the child that you're holding" I say. Klaus chuckles and sighs as I walk over and take Hope from him. "Hi" I say to Hope with a smile "fine: Klaus says and picks up the paper and pencil and starts to narrate aloud what he writes. "I wish Star would come to the realization that she is the mother of OUR child and that any man who dumps her, at which point I will pour him a scotch and congratulate him on the bullet he dodged" Klaus says.
Klaus rips off the page and hands it out to me. I glare at him before taking the note out of his hands and crumples it. "I swear, the first thing I am going to teach you is how to kill your father" I say to Hope and leave the room as Klaus smirks. We all head outside and stand around the bonfire. Klaus lights a match and starts the fire as Rebekah rushes out. "Hey, look what I found" she holds up a Polaroid camera "I wonder if it'll work" Rebekah says.
Klaus and I both sigh "oh, bloody hell" Klaus says "great" I say. "Wow, you two really are alike" Rebekah says. "Come on, let's try it. Hey, Nik, do you think you can cram us all into a selfie". "Oh, Niklaus is a virtuoso at cramming his siblings into confined spaces" Elijah says. "Well, I'm just glad I traveled hundreds of miles to visit my mentally ill brother, only to have him insult me to my face" Klaus says. "Oh, come on, just take the picture"!
Klaus sighs and holds up the camera to take a picture of the five of us together. Everyone is smiling, Hope including, except for Klaus, who remains blank-faced. We watch as the photo develop and Klaus holds it up for us to see "aw, see? I wish that it could always be like this" Rebekah says. "If wishes were horses..." Elijah starts "beggars would ride" Klaus finishes. We all look at the photo and smile until Klaus stops and sighs.
"You realize we'll have to burn it. You want me to make a wish for the family, Rebekah? I wish it didn't have to be like this. But, it does" Klaus says and hands the photo to me "we can't risk it falling into the wrong hands". I look at the pitcher and sigh before throwing it into the bonfire. We all stand in silence for a few minuets until I finally brake it. "Okay, lets go inside and give out presents" I say and hand Hope to Elijah before starting to go inside with a hesitant Klaus to fallow.
We all go into the living room and sit down. We decided to just give one gift to people. Rebekah handed me a bag and I smiled, handing her a bag as well. Rebekah opened hers to see a framed family pitcher of everyone. I had found the pitcher back at the house, Rebekah always liked it because everyone was smiling in it. "Thank you" Rebekah says and I opened her's to see a new leather jacket. "I thought you could use a new one" Rebekah said.
Mine had spots all over it and a few holes in the sleeves. I slipped the jacket on to see Klaus had left and was walking back in. Klaus handed me a small box and sat down next to me. "I thought you didn't like giving gifts" I said with a smile "I don't" Klaus said with a sigh. I opened the small box to see a handmade necklace that was made of different beads. It looked like an Indian necklace and was beautiful "I love it" I said to Klaus.
Klaus put it on for me "I wish it was always like this" I said with a sigh as I touched the necklace. "No, this isn't right, we deserve this, we've earned this" Rebekah says upset and angry. She looks at Elijah, who looks unhappy "I won't let it slip away" she says and Klaus and I both look at her, confused and concerned. "I know what to do to stop Esther" "Rebekah, no" Elijah starts "I'm going to take her deal. And, when I do, I'm taking her down with me" Rebekah and Klaus stare at each other, and Rebekah gulps anxiously.
