"It's alright." She put her hair behind her shoulders and reached out her hand for a shake.

I looked down at her and then her hand, and shook it back. She wore a ring with a blue jewel on her right hand and a bracelet on the same one, dangling as she shook her hand with mine.

Her hand was cold, and her fingers slender.

I had recognised her of course, she had been in Hogwarts since 1st year.

She was a Slytherin, although she was not so significant for me to talk to all these times, I knew she was friends with Parkinson and Greengrass. Girls who I knew little of.

Did I bother paying any mind to anyone but myself these past years? No, I did not.

"Hey Malfoy." She finished the shake and looked at me.

"Hey y/l/n." I looked back, my thumb feeling over the coins in circles between my index finger. I was jittery.

"Come back for your last year?" She had asked me, her head tilted to the side.

I nodded. "Yes, I think it's only right."

She nodded. "Agreed." Her eyes trailed down to the floor. "I'd like to finish a year without darkness." She crossed her arms.

"Yes, I agree." Awkward, but brief.

"Well I best be on my way." She looked up, her hand grasping her papers a bit harder.

I could see fear in her eyes, as they moved from the right, then to the floor, then to the left, then back to me, waiting for my response.

I didn't know what to think.

"See you around." I brushed passed her and walked a bit faster to the trolley lady, leaving that awkward situation.

I felt eyes burn into the back of my head and it could not have been her, but my paranoia of everything around me.

She had just finished closing a compartment and I tapped her softly on the shoulder.

She didn't turn and I tapped her again.

She turned around and looked up to me. She was a small lady wearing a pink apron.

"Sorry, you gave me too much change." I said handing her the extra money she gave me.

"Speak up dear." She leaned her ear in slightly with a light smile.

I felt my cheeks turn a slight red with embarrassment.

"You gave me too much change, here you go." I repeated, moving my hand closer to her face.

She chuckled. "Oh dear, thank you for being honest." She took the money from my hand.

"Speak up next time will you? My old ears aren't made for whispering." She smiled at me patting my shoulder.

"I don't like bringing unwanted attention.." I trailed off as she had already turned away and pushed her trolley cart down the corridor. She hadn't heard me.

I sighed as she trotted away. Some 5th years looked at me through the compartment I stopped in front of giggling to each other, eyeing me.

I felt like they were making fun of me, and I had to glare at them.

I ran my hands through my platinum hair sighing, turning around back to my compartment.
