"Wait, give me the red book on our potion, Matrix Maxima. I'd like to read a bit on it and then sometime later this week, we have to get started." I told her, remembering I wanted to go over it before bed.
She nodded, reaching into her bag without even looking, and handed it to me.
I nodded, shooting her a quick smile as I got up to goto my next class.
Throughout the day, I never got a chance to look at the book until now.
Finally, I was ready to sleep in an hour or so, and had time to read over the book. I got into my bed under the covers, my back leaning against the headboard of the bed and it sat in my lap.
"Sup Draco." Theo said as he entered our room, still in his uniform, I hadn't seen him since after dinner when he ran off. He put his bag down on his bed.
"Where did you run off to?" I asked, my hand resting on the cold leather of the book.
"Honestly," He paused, starting to change into his pyjamas. "I was with Parkinson discussing our assignment." He unpacked his books and put them on his table.
"You must have loved that." I teased, reaching to open to the front page of the book. He chuckled and I saw him blush.
"What's that?" Theo asked, sitting on the side of his bed, trying to change conversation.
"Oh, just the book on our potion, thought I should read it and get ahead," I paused and it was silent, as he nodded. "Well.. how was pranking last night?" I joked.
"You know, we didn't get caught. I love pranking those little first years." He chuckled, grabbing a towel to go shower.
I shook my head laughing, finally being able to look at the first page. Before I could, I noticed the book was a bit different.
It had a small little lock on the side of the book which you could click open and close, and the title of the book was no where on the cover anymore, it was just an embroidered design.
"1st of September, 1992. First day of 1st Year." Was messily sprawled in ink on the first page.
I quickly shut the book and shoved it under my covers, sliding down in my bed slowly.
I could not believe what I had just read, and could not believe what I had in my own hands.
I could feel my skin becoming more pale than it already was.
I took the book carefully from under my covers and opened the first page.
"1st of September 1992. First day of 1st Year." That was my first year at Hogwarts also.
I didn't want to read it completely as it was just introductory things, but it was signed, on every single page on the bottom of every, single, page.
It's like the book was trying to emphasise to me that this was somebody else's property, and not my own to read.
It was signed by Y/l/n.
Hell yes, I wanted to read the recent entry, but I knew it was not right.
So, I closed the book shut, and put it on my bedside table.
Theo had just gotten out the shower already changed. "Already finished reading?" He asked, brushing his blonde hair back as he came over and eyed the book on my bedside table.
"It was just a bit hard to understand.." I tried to be as discreet as I could. But, I could never hide things from my friends.
"I'm excellent at potions let me have a look." He snatched the book before I could take it myself. He eyed me, eyebrow raised.
