I slowly opened my eyes, I was in the hospital wing, with even more bandages than I had on before, I felt like I couldn't move.
I made a noise of discomfort and I saw Blaise and Theo rush towards me.
"Finally," Blaise breathed, rubbing my shoulder.
"It's only the next day." I croaked.
"No Draco, it's been 5 days." Theo pressed his lips into a thin line, a sense of awkwardness and concern. He rested his hand onto my forearm.
"What's going on? What happened to Y/n?" I tried craning my neck around to see, and sure enough, I saw her in the bed next to mine.
"She's okay.. but she hasn't woken up since the night." Theo started slowly.
"...What did happen that night?" He continued.
I looked at Y/n and thought.
"We had a small disagreement, so I decided to follow after her a few minutes later to the Astronomy Tower," I paused, looking at my friends.
"When I found her, she was hanging from the railing." They gasped quietly, looking at Y/n.
"So how did you end up.." Blaise asked.
"Trying to help her, I reached over the railing to grab her, and I had to reach forward a lot, and, I guess I was too caught up, because I fell forward with her," I paused, thinking. "She was just about to tell me who did it to her, but it was too late." I sighed.
"Draco.. everyone thinks you did it." Theo stated.
"What?" I sat up immediately. "You guys don't believe that right?"
"Of course not, but everyone is thinking you did it. You were the only one with her that night." Theo answered, and Blaise nodded.
"No, she was just about to tell me who did it, I swear." I whispered, looking around. It was empty besides Y/n.
The doors had bursted open, and McGonagall, Parkinson, and Greengrass had entered, with no more than 2 Ministry of Magic Officials.
"This cannot be happening." I said.
"Believe it." Blaise sighed, stepping away from my bed with Theo as they approached.
McGonagall wore a calm bit concerned expression, Y/n's two friends wore cold expressions.
"Draco Malfoy? Do you have anything to say?" McGonagall asked.
"I did not push her off, why would I do that? I have no motive. In fact, when I tried saving her from the railing, she was just about to tell me who did it to her." I protested.
"I'm sorry Mr Malfoy-"
Y/n made a sound of pain.
Everyone was surprised, surrounding her bed.
"Y/n.." I tried, looking at her.
She grunted from her pain I presumed. I could have easily saved her that night but I couldn't.
"Who did this to you?" McGonagall asked, leaning in a bit with the others around the bed, to hear her coarse voice.
She looked around with her eyes squinted but then moved her eyes to mine, keeping heavy eye contact.
"Cedric Diggory." She had seemed to spit, looking away in anger, her hand tightening around the hem of her blanket.
The others had gasped quietly around me.
"And if you need any more proof," I paused, everyone looked back to my bed. "He's a death eater, just look at his left arm."
The officials had sprinted out the room, to find Cedric Diggory. McGonagall had bid good bye, a quick apology to me and went to go and find him.
"I.. I guess we owe you an apology. I'm sorry Draco." Daphne apologised to me, using my first name as a sign of respect I assumed. Her head was down sheepishly.
"It's okay, I understand. I was the only one there."
"You know I wouldn't hang out with him if he was a bad person." Y/n spoke up from her bed, her voice still coarse.
"Y/n, with you taking forever to report Diggory, we didn't expected as much." Parkinson chuckled with Greengrass.
Y/n sighed. "I don't know why it took me so long." She became quiet, looking away. Her friends made their way over to her.
