Steve ~
I sit down next to Robin and start reading a magazine. "So, how's your hand? It's okay if you don't want to talk." Robin says. "I-it hurts." I reply. "You're talking now?" Robin asked. I didn't even realize that I spoke. "It was just a lot, okay? I tried to talk." I respond.
"It's okay. I'm just glad you're talking, dingus." Robin replies, playfully. A group of girls walk in. "Where are the comedies?" She asks, her friends snickering behind her. "Oh right-" "Right in front of me. You're dating a guy? That's so weird!" She says, laughing.
Robin walks in front of her and spits in her face. "Now who's funny? Plus, you're way out of his league." Robin said, staring her dead in the eyes. "EW!" The girl screamed, wiping the spit off of her face. They run out and Robin looks over at me. "You okay Harrington?" She asks. "Now I am!" I say, laughing. "I hate girls that think they're better than everyone." Robin says, sitting back down. The kids run into the store. "Hey Steve. Me and El want a movie." Max says.
"No! I'm not gonna keep doing this! I'm going to get fired. Money or no movie." I say, crossing my arms. "What happened to your hand?" Max asks. I look down at my hand. "Oh I got into-" they run out of the door with a movie. "HEY! COME BACK HERE!" I yell, running after them. They were already gone. I walk back inside to Robin losing it. "THEY DISTRACTED YOU AND RAN!" She said while laughing.
"Man kids are the worst. Who needs em' anyway?" I say, sitting back down. "You and your six lil nuggets say otherwise." Robin says, still laughing. "PLEASE TELL ME EDDIE DIDN'T TELL YOU THAT." I exclaim, pinching the bridge of my nose. "Oh he did, three girls, three boys. All of it. Six kids? Really?" Robin asked.
"It's not like I haven't had practice." I say, sipping my coffee. "Steve, babysitting and raising kids, are two very different things. Oh wait, actually nevermind because you basically did raise them." Robin corrected herself. "MOM OF THE YEAR!" Robin yelled, clapping. "I'M. NOT. THEIR. MOM." I reply, throwing my hands up in the air for each word.
"But like, you are though." Robin responds, laughing. "Excuse me?" We both look at the customer. "Sorry, what can I help you with?" I ask. "Scary movies?" He asks. "Right over there." I point to a shelf of tapes. He nods and walks over. "Stop laughing, you're scaring our customers." I tell Robin. "She does scare me." Eddie says, hopping on the counter.
I look over at him. "So you are mad at me?" He asks. "No! I'm not, I swear. It was just a lot to... comprehend." I say, looking down at my hand. He gently grabs my hand, looking at my knuckles. "It's still really swollen. You might have broken something." Eddie says, setting my hand down. "I'm fine. Really, I am." I reply, sipping some of my coffee.
"How was your hellfire meeting?" I ask. "It was good, there were tears. Not from me, but from Gareth and Henderson. Man, they were bawling their eyes out." Eddie replies. "Sorry to interrupt your little conversation, but your kids are here." Robin says, pointing at the Dustin and Mike.
"What do you two want?" I ask, rolling my eyes. "A movie?" Dustin asks. "No. No money, no movie." I reply. "What happened to your hand?" Mike asked. "I'M NOT FALLING FOR THAT. NO MONEY, NO MOVIE." I yell. "Pleaseeee?" Henderson asked. "Just go." I say, handing them a movie.
"Being a mom is hard huh?" Robin asked.
Eddie ~
"I'M NOT A MOM!" Steve yells. Me and Robin burst out laughing. "You told her about our kid conversation?" Steve asked me. "I- yeah." I reply, sipping some of his coffee. "You need to learn my rank in this relationship, Steve. And six, is way too many. I agree with Eddie on this one." Robin says, putting some movies back on a shelf. "Six kids is not enough!" Steve exclaims.
"Steve, remember, this is a movie store, not our bedroom. We can talk about this later, okay?" I ask, walking around. "Fine." He replies, sighing. "I can close." Robin suggests. "Wait what time is it?" Steve asks. I check my watch. "8:07" I answer, walking back over to him. "Okay, we're heading out. Bye Robin." Steve says while we walk outside. "How's your shoulder?" Steve asked while we got in the van. "It's okay. Just a little bruise. How's your hand?" I ask, unwrapping it. "Still hurts." Steve replies. "Steve, that looks bad. I think we need to go to the hospital." I say, gently setting his hand down. "Eddie I'm fine, really." Steve responds. "You need to get that into a cast or something. It looks terrible, love." I reply, starting to drive to the hospital.
Steve sighs and crosses his arms. "Steve, I understand that you're mad but, you hurt you're hand pretty bad." I say. "It's weird. I remember when I pushed him onto the ground, but some of it, is still pretty fuzzy. I remember being like, hot with rage, but I don't remember hitting him as much as I did." Steve explained.
"We tried pulling you off multiple times, but you wouldn't budge. You didn't seem like yourself." I reply. "It felt like my anger took over me. I couldn't control myself." Steve responds. "I'm sorry, Steve. It's my fault." I say, parking and looking at him. "No it's not. I would have done the same thing, Eddie." Steve responds.
"I really messed up." I say, tearing up. "You're hurt because of me." I add, tears rolling down my cheeks. "No Eddie. I'm hurt because of me. Not you. I punched him. You couldn't control that. You need to stop blaming yourself for this." Steve says, wiping my tears away. "It's just.. I tried to forgive him and he still got mad at me.
You hurt your hand over that.. that waste of air!" I yell, tears flooding out of my eyes.
When I get mad, I cry. "Eddie, I'm okay." Steve assures me. He wipes my tears away. Steve always helps me when I get mad.
