Eddie ~
We have been sitting in the waiting room for hours. My leg is sore from bouncing up and down. I'm terrified. If Steve dies, I don't know what I would do. "Robin, Eddie and I can stay here. Go home and get some rest." Nancy says. "No. I need to make sure Steve is okay." She replies. "We'll call you once we get an update, okay?" Nancy responds. Robin nods and hugs her. Nancy hands her the keys and she walks outside. "Eddie, are you okay?" Nancy asks.

"If he's dead... I-" I start to sob. "He's gonna be fine, Eddie. I promise." Nancy assures me. "YOU DON'T KNOW THAT! He could be in the morgue right now!" I exclaim. "He's not. Trust me, Steve has lived through a lot. Some bullet isn't gonna-" Nancy gets interupted by the kids running in and yelling. "WHERE IS HE?!" Henderson screams. "What happened?!" Max exclaims. "Where is Steve?" Will asks. "Did Robin call you?" Nancy asks. "Yeah. Where is he at, Nancy?" Mike asks. "Come sit down, guys." Nancy responds.

They all surround us, sitting down in chairs. "There.. was a robbery. Steve, was... shot." Nancy explains. I wipe my face. "Is he okay?" Max asks. "We don't know." I answer. They all turn their focus to me. "We've been sitting here for hours. We know as much as you do. So please, stop asking questions." I say, rubbing my eyes. A doctor walks up to us. I look up at him. "He's in the I.C.U. He is recovering right now, so it's recommended that two people go into his room at a time.

He may be a bit drowsy because he lost a lot of blood. Or, he may not wake up tonight." The doctor explains. "What happens if he doesn't wake up?" Nancy asks. "He will wake up, it may take a while. His body has been through lot." He answers. Nancy points to the phone and I nod. "Where?" I ask, standing up. "Room 182. Upstairs." The doctor replies. I start running to the staircase. I speed up the flight of stairs and start looking for his room. I finally find it and run inside.

I see Steve lying on a bed. His hair is messed up and his stomach is wrapped in gauze. I sit down next to him. Robin runs into the room. "Nancy called me. How's he doing?" She asks. "He hasn't woken up yet." I reply. "I should have called you. I'm sorry I just... I was freaking out. He wanted you there with him. I should have-" "It's okay, Robin. Don't blame yourself for this." I reply.

"But what led to.. this? I know you were trying to explain it earlier but I was kinda, zoned out." I ask, looking over at her. "Oh um... They came into the store and pointed a gun at Steve. He yelled to give him the money. Steve said no and started being sarcastic. Then, one grabbed me and threatened to um.. yeah. Steve knocked the other guy out and then the guy who was threatening me, started to shoot at Steve." Robin explains.

"Oh." I respond. She nods. "I keep thinking about what would have happened if Steve just, froze. If he didn't do anything to them. I mean, who robs a video store?!" Robin exclaims. "People who are desperate." I reply, sighing. "Eddie, do you think... do you think he'll be okay?" Robin asks. "I hope so." I respond. We sit next to him for hours, in complete silence. The same thought laces through my brain. 'Who would do this?' As soon as Steve is okay, I'm gonna find out who.

How could someone do this? Especially, to Steve! What a sicko. Nancy was right. Steve's not gonna die to some bullet. He's okay. "I'll be right back." Robin says, walking out. A woman walks in. It's Steve's mom. "Mrs. Harrington, I don't think you should be here." I say, giving her a death stare.

"Is he okay? I just wanted to check on him. I saw what happened, on the news." She explains, sitting down next to Steve. "He's fine. I really don't think he'll want-" I stop talking when I see Steve's eyelashes flutter. He opens his eyes. "Steve?" I ask. He looks over at me. "I'm in a hospital again. I feel like-" He stops when he sees his mom. "Hi, Steven." She says, smiling. "Leave." He says. "Steven please-" I stand up and walk her out of the room.

I slam the door in her face. "Thanks, Eddie." He says. The door opens and Robin stands in the doorway. As she stares at Steve, her cup of water drops to the floor. She rushes over to Steve and gently hugs him. "Are you okay?" He asks, wrapping one of his arms around her.

"Yeah. You're the one in a hospital bed!Are you okay?" She asks, pulling away and sitting on the end of his bed. "I'm in a lot of pain, but I'm alive." Steve replies, playfully. "Do the kids know?" Steve asks. "Yeah. They want to come up here, but only two people are allowed at a time." I respond.

Steve ~
"Oh." I reply. "Maybe you'll see them tomorrow, Steve. Don't worry." Robin assures me. "Can you make sure my mom doesn't come back?" Steve asks me. "Wait, his mom was here?" Robin asks. "Yeah. She's gone now, but I'll make sure she doesn't come back." Eddie responds, placing a hand on top of my head. "What are you doing?!" I exclaim. "And somehow, your hair is still really soft." Eddie replies, smiling. "I should have handed them the money." I say.

"What were you thinking? You almost died!" Eddie asks, giving me a worried look. "He did knock a guy out with a textbook, though. That... was really cool. It was like something out of an action movie!" Robin exclaims. "It felt cool too." I add. "YOU COULD HAVE DIED!" Eddie yells, crying. "Eddie? I'm fine. I promise." I assure him, holding his hand. "Eight hours." Eddie replies. "What?" I ask. "Eight hours. That's how long we waited in the lobby.

Not one update. I didn't know if you were even alive! You're joking about this like... like it never happened. Do you know how scared I was, Steve? Every single thing that could have happened to you, crossed my mind." Eddie explains. "Do you not think I was scared? I was the one who got shot! Sorry for trying to lighten the mood." I reply, letting go of his hand. "I'm gonna take a walk." He says, walking out of the room.

"Wait! Eddie!" I yell. "He's not leaving. Don't worry. He's probably going to get something. His jacket is still here. I'll go get him." Robin says, running behind him. I pick his jacket up and stare at it. It's his leather one. His favorite. I felt something in his pocket. I pull the object out. It's a letter. The letter I wrote him when we both were in the hospital from the upside down.

"Eddie, I'm not good at these things so just a warning. The day I met you, I thought you were weird. I'm not gonna lie. But when we kissed for the first time, it felt right. If you would have told me that kiss would lead to this, I would have laughed. I thought it was never going to be serious. Well, I was wrong. What the kids are telling me is that we died? Like did we actually die? Anyways, back to the topic. You made me fall for you, Eddie Munson. I didn't want to! But then, one glance into your eyes, and I was hooked. I've never experienced something like that before. You've changed me, Munson. For good. I love you." It reads.

Some of the ink was smeared. He had it in his pocket the whole time? I feel hot tears stinging my eyes. "He kept it." I say, while tears roll down my face. I see some small writing at the bottom of the paper. "I love you too." It says. I start to cry even more. Eddie walks in, carrying a tray of drinks.

"Steve? What happened?" He asks, setting the drinks down and running over to me.  He sees the letter in my hands. "You kept it?" I ask, choking on my tears. "Of course I did! It keeps me going. I look at it almost everyday." Eddie replies, sitting in front of me. I pull him into a hug, and wince a little from my stomach.
