chapter 25: doesn't it sound nice?

Steve ~
Eddie and I walked into the theater and waited in the lobby for Robin and Nancy. "Hey guys!" Nancy says, waving. "Eddie almost killed us getting here." I say. "Don't listen to him, I took a shortcut and he started freaking out." Eddie explained. "How's your nose?" Robin asked. "Oh it's okay. Steve's knuckles got the worst of it." Eddie responds, grabbing my hand and undoing the bandages to show them.

"Oh my god, Steve that looks bad!" Nancy exclaims. "Really, I'm fine." I say. "I'm proud of you! You actually won the fight this time!" Robin said sarcastically as we walked to get some popcorn. "You too?" I asked. "What? I'm just congratulating my good ol' friend for winning his first fight! And it was against Jason! Whew! You're lucky you made it out alive!" Robin said playfully.  "One extra large butter popcorn please!" Nancy asked the cashier. "Okay, here you go! That will be $3.47." the cashier responds. I hand her a $5 dollar bill and we start walking to see our movie.

"What movie did you guys get tickets for?" Nancy asked. "It was like 'little shop of horrors' or something." Eddie replied, sitting down next to me. "OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS MOVIE!" Nancy yelled. The people behind us shushed us so, Eddie turned around and shushed them as obnoxiously as he could. Eddie looked at me and I laughed a little bit before starting to watch the movie. During the movie, Eddie was stress eating the popcorn and I grabbed some from him.

I swear, I was looking death straight in the eyes. After the movie, we started walking outside. "So what are we doing now?" I ask. "We could go grab dinner? Eddie was eating all of the popcorn so, I'm starving." Robin replied. "IT WAS INTENSE OKAY?" Eddie responds. "Not really Eds, but okay." I respond giving him a smile. He rolls his eyes. "So where are we going?" Robin asked. "Um.. Pizza?" Eddie replies. "Why not? We could order in?" I ask. "Yeah okay. Let's go to your house because it's bigger and ya know, you have a bigger couch." Robin replied.

I nod and Eddie starts the car. I get in and he starts driving to my house. "Soooo what did you think of the movie?" I asked. "Oh my god it was so good. We need to get that one on tape!" Eddie exclaimed, parking in the driveway. Eddie has an unhealthy obsession with cheesy horror movies. I never admit it, but I'm scared of horror movies. The only reason I watch them is because of Eddie. We walk inside and Eddie calls the pizza place while I sit down on the couch.

He hangs up the phone and walks over. He sits down next to me. I hear a knock at the door. "That was fast? I thought they were waiting at the pizza place?" I said while walking to the door. I open it and no one's there. I walk outside and look around. I go back inside and shut the door. "Who was it?" Eddie asked. "No one was there." I replied, confused. I shrugged my shoulders and walked back over to the couch.

I heard another knock. I look at Eddie confused and open the door. No one. "Okay, whoever's doing this, it's not funny! I have a bat!" I yell and shut the door. "I swear to god if someone knocks ag-" I'm interupted with a knock. "Let me get it this time." Eddie says, opening the door. He looks out and looks back at me. "What?" I ask. "There's no one?" Eddie replied, confused. I walk outside and yell "I KNOW IT'S YOU GUYS! I DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU'RE AT, BUT STOP KNOCKING ON MY DAMN DOOR! I WILL CALL YOUR PARENTS." I yell, thinking it's the kids just messing around.

I slam the door and sit on the couch. I hear a knock at the door again. I grab my bat and open it. "Steve-" "I TOLD YOU TO STOP KNOCK- oh. Sorry guys." I say, putting my bat down and letting Robin and Nancy in. "You okay, Harrington?" Robin asked while setting the pizza down. "Someone's been knocking on the door then, running away before we open it. It's driving him crazy." Eddie responds.

Eddie ~
"Easy fix, just sit by the door and wait for them to knock again then open it and scare the hell out of them!" Robin responded. Steve pointed at her and said "That's not a bad idea-" Steve gets interupted by a knock. He grabs his bat and flings the door open.

No one. "OH HELL NO! I DON'T THINK IT'S THEM. WE'RE BEING HAUNTED." Steve screams. "Steve calm down, i'm sure it's just the kids. Let them be." Nancy said, shutting the door and locking it. She motions for everyone to sit on the couch. "Come eat." Nancy says while grabbing a slice of pizza out of the box.

"The kids have never done this before." Steve says, walking over and sitting down. "They're getting older Steve. Don't tell me you didn't-" Nancy gets interupted by another knock. "Okay let me get it." Nancy says walking over and opening the door. I walk behind her and hear laughing. Steve grabs his bat and walks outside to find the kids, holding in their laughs. "YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN YOUR GUYS' FACES!" Max said, bursting out into laughter. El wiped the blood from her nose and they high five and started getting on their bikes.

"YOU DO THAT AGAIN, I WILL CALL YOUR PARENTS!" Steve yells after them, as they bike away in laughter. We all walk back inside. I burst out laughing and they all look at me. "STEVE LOOKED SO SCARED." I said, still laughing. Steve put his hands on his hips. "I wasn't scared. You were, Munson." He replied, while walking back over to the couch.

I sit next to him and eat a slice of pizza. "Steve, you were scared. Like out of a horror movie scared. Don't lie." Robin responded. "I WASN'T SCARED!" He yelled while throwing his hands in the air. "You two did not." Robin said grabbing Steve's wrist.

Nancy grabbed mine. "Are those real?" Nancy asked. "Oh our tatties? Got them a little bit ago." I respond, smiling.

"They look good. Let me guess, demobats?" Nancy asked. "Had to represent." I reply, smiling. "You guys aren't leaving after graduation right? We should totally do this more often." Nancy said, setting my wrist down. "Oh um, we were going to but, we haven't really decided." Steve replied, looking over at me. He said he wanted to travel. Does he not want to? "Yeah..." I say. "Robin and I should get going. Thanks for having us over!" Nancy said, walking out of the door.

After they left, I looked at Steve. "You don't want to travel?" I ask him. "Wouldn't it be kind of nice to stay here and watch the kids graduate? We could get jobs, I think there's an opening at that record store by the highschool, I know you love music. And I could go work with Robin at the video store. We could get our own house. Wouldn't that be nice?" He asked.

"Actually.. yeah, it kinda does Harrington." I respond with a smile.

I rested my head on his shoulder. Steve stands up and picks me up. "PUT ME DOWN HARRINGTON." I yell, kicking my feet as he runs up to our room. "You're heavy." Steve says dropping me on the bed and sitting down. "Rude." I respond, crossing my arms. "Oh calm down Munson. You know, I can't believe that in a couple days, we're gonna be highschool graduates." Steve says, looking at me. "It's pretty crazy huh?" I asked.

"Yeah. We're gonna be adults. I don't know how to feel about that." Steve said. "Me either, Stevie." I say, playfully. "You think the kids will be there? At the graduation?" Steve asks, tracing his tattoo with his finger. "Of course they'll be there. You not used to it yet?" I ask. "Not really. It feels weird." Steve replies.

"It will at first, but you'll get used to it. You'll be like 'oh yeah I have a tattoo.'" I say, holding his hand. "Will I?." Steve asks, sarcastically. "Yes you will, Steve Harrington." I respond, kissing him. "Eds looooves me." Steve says, playfully.

"You're right Stevie, I do." I say, pushing him jokingly.
