Steve ~
I wake up. My head was lying on Eddie's chest. He's still snoring. "Happy anniversary." I whisper into his ear. He opens his eyes and smiles. "Happy anniversary, Stevie." He replies, giving me a quick kiss then standing up. "Where's Robin and Nancy?" I ask. "They're sleeping at her house. They haven't slept good in a few days so, I told them to go home." Eddie replies, stretching. "Oh. Hey um, Eddie?" I ask, looking at him. "Hm?" He replies, staring at me.
"Thank you for the whole wedding thing. I know it's weird going with Robin, but I have to be there. And, I want you to be there too. My family just... Doesn't understand." I reply. "It's okay. I don't mind. But I swear to god Harrington, you are crazy if you think I'm gonna kiss her or something-" "NO! No kissing. Plus, why would I make you kiss Robin? She'd freak out and well, so would Nancy. And maybe me too, BUT THAT'S NOT THE POINT!" I respond. Eddie's smile grows.
"Look at what I have." He says, fanning a movie in from of my face. "THAT'S THE MOVIE FROM OUR FIRST DATE! Maximum Overdrive." I reply, grabbing the movie. "You remembered." Eddie responds. "Of course I did. I picked the movie. And how could I forget the death grip you had on my arm?!" I exclaim. "Happy anniversary!" Nancy says, walking through the door. Nancy whispers something to Eddie and they both walk out of the room, shutting the door.
Robin stares at me. "What?" I ask. "Remember when Tommy H. was bullying me and you threatened to fight him if he said anything else?" She asks. "Yeah? Why? Robin, what's going on?" I ask, staring at her. "He never said anything to me after that. That's when we first met. Then you came to scoops ahoy later that day and we started working together. You want to know something funny?" She asks, looking at the floor. "Robin, what happened?" I ask, worried.
"You're the first person that I told. You know, the whole lesbian thing? I came out to Steve Harrington, in a bathroom. And, you were cool with it. Thanks. For being there." Robin says, sitting down on my bed. "Yeah. But I still stand by what I said. Tammy Thompson? Really?" I ask, laughing. "Eddie Munson? Really? I can pull that card too, dingus." Robin exclaims. "At least Eddie can sing. Well... Kind of. But he doesn't sound like a muppet. She sounded like Kermit." I reply.
"No she didn't! She sounded... Okay, yeah she did sound like a muppet but-" "My point is proven. Muppet." I respond. We both start laughing. "They're laughing again." Nancy says, looking at Eddie. "What's so funny?" Eddie asks. "You know Tammy Thompson?" I ask. "Yeah. The one who can't sing?" Eddie asks. "Yeah. Robin used to have a crush on her." I reply, smiling. "STEVE! WHAT THE HELL?!" Robin exclaims.
"Do you still like her?" Nancy asks. "No! That was like two years ago. I swear!" Robin assures her. "I'm gonna go for a walk." Nancy says, walking out of the room. Robin runs after her. "They'll be fine. It's just a lover's quarrel." Eddie says, placing a hand on my shoulder.
"Yeah, I guess you're right." I reply. "Do you want to watch the movie? We don't have to if you don't want to." Eddie asks. "Um.. yeah, we can watch it." I respond. He puts it into the VHS player and the movie pops onto the small TV screen.
He lies down and wraps his arm around me. I couldn't pay attention to it. I shouldn't have said anything. Then they wouldn't be fighting. It's my fault."Steve? You okay?" Eddie asks, looking worried. "It's my fault. I shouldn't have said anything! I ruined everything. I'm sorry." I say, breaking down into tears. "What? No! You didn't ruin anything." Eddie assures me, holding my hand.
He hasn't hugged me since my wound opened up a couple days ago. He's scared that he's gonna hurt me. "What if they break up? It'll be all my-" "We got slushies!" Nancy exclaims, pushing the door open. Robin walks in behind her. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to-" "You're so sensitive, Steve. It's okay. It was just a little fight. That's it." Robin explains.
Eddie ~
Steve nods. I wipe his tears away. "I'm sorry this is such a bad anniversary date." Steve says, looking up at me. "Bad? The anniversary is about us, Steve. Not anything else." I reply. Robin plays the movie and flops down on a chair. Nancy sits next to her. We all started watching the movie. I felt Steve's hand wrap around my arm, and get tighter and tighter with every jumpscare.
"Steve?" I ask, looking at him. "Hm?" He replies, not taking his eyes off of the screen. "I don't know if you're aware, but uh, you have a death grip on my arm." I respond. "Oh. Sorry." He replies, loosening his grip. He gives me a peck on the cheek, then goes back to watching the movie. One year. One year of watching movies with him. One year of the upside down. One year of eating pineapple pizza with him.
One. Whole. Year.
The only reason that Steve watches scary movies is, because I like them. That... That's the reason that I love him. He gives so much for me. "Eddie, why are you staring at me?" Steve asks, looking at me. "I don't know what you're talking about, lover boy." I reply, smiling. "Oh shut up, Munson." Steve responds. He's blushing. "Could you two shut up? I can't hear the movie." Robin exclaims.
