Chapter 30
Trace
"You've been to Paoay Church before right?"
Babalik ako ng Ilocos Norte. Kasabay ng pag-asam. Stop it, Paige. Anong sinasabi mong pag-asam? Paano kung pamilyadong tao na iyang..
I was supposed to think about my sister's wedding and her wedding alone pero iba ang nararamdaman ko. The pain..the hope of meeting him again in that place and the nostalgic feeling the name of the place gives me.
I was hoping that there would be no photographs of me posted online after Chloe's wedding. I hoped to have a rest in the Philippines.
Ate Prami had my things transferred in her condo unit in Manila. I can stay there as long as I want, dahil mas magkakaroon ako ng privacy doon at mas tago pa sa media.
"How long are you gonna stay there, Paige?
She opted to have a driver for me pero sinabi kong kaya ko naman. I had driving lessons back in New York.
"Just wanna wander around for two days, ate. Huwag kang mag-alala, I can drive."
I groaned in disapproval. She might have concluded something from my statement. It's my choice.
"Are you sure..you are going to travel alone?" paniniguro niya.
For how many years, hindi na kataka-taka iyon. I was supposed to invite Mace or Les here pero alam ko namang may trabaho si Les at baka si Mace ay hindi pa..
I might have to introduce them to the islands.
"After your two days in Baguio, ipasusundo kita through a driver, okay? Magpahinga ka na muna."
"Yup, ate, I will."
I wouldn't have to worry about any hotel reservation because my sister really arranged it for me. I drove by myself to Baguio. It was my sister's car. She actually has two cars. She just recently bought the other one.
I was so amazed that I get to watch the fogs from my room. Napapikit ako at sinamyo ang lamig sa aking balat. Sanay naman na ako sa ganoong klima but it's different when you are at a country close to your heart.
Would life be different? Would everything be different?
I wore a red satin bralette top and a high-waisted jeans, covered in a thick leather coat. I also wore a beret cap and a vintage eyeglass.
