Dear Diary,
Have you ever wondered about teen-girl obsessions? I mean, why is Twilight and Justin Bieber considered so “cool”? What makes My Chemical Romance so “awesome”? Why is Taylor Lautner, Robert Patterson, Justin Bieber, and John Cena so “hot”? These are just the outlines of today’s obsessions, but I’d like to know why girls seem to obsess over these things. I’d also like to know why people hate Justin Bieber, but then go and download his songs; why they say Twilight is stupid, but have read the books and watched the movies; why they say Lady GaGa is a freak, but are singing the lyrics to her songs like it’s nobody’s business.
Now, I’m being a hypocrite by pointing all of this out, but I can’t help it. I mean, I refuse to admit that I like Justin Bieber, even when I want to see his movie and buy his new CD. I refuse to admit I’m a Twilight fan when I’ve read all the books and have all the movies on DVD. I think Taylor Lautnor is probably the hottest guy on earth, but I’d probably fall for Edward. (Unrelated, but true.)
But, why?
Is it the hormones as they settle into body? Is it just the PMS — like the food cravings I get on my period? What is it?
Maybe it’s just this need most of us feel that makes us to be different. Yet we all do it! Gosh, sometimes being a girl is just too darn complicated! Maybe if I was a boy this would be easier? Probably not. Boys have it pretty rough even if they refuse to admit it.
Well, I’m gonna end up insulting someone if I continue. ’Bye!
Love,
Alison
