Dear Diary,
You know, it’s easy to write a story of any kind. But it’s always so difficult to write about yourself. At least, that’s my opinion.
To write a story, the characters are fake. Sure, they can be based on real people, but they’re just puppets to your imagination. The entire plot is something that hasn’t happened, either. There might be scenes that could’ve happened. Basically, it’s not real. Just imagination and fantasies.
Now, to write about yourself … that’s a challenge. Everything is real, and it can amount to the most wonderful and deep and greatest thing you’ve ever written. But it’s also very scary. Your private thoughts laid out plainly for everyone to read. Some of the stuff can be potentially embarrassing. You shouldn’t hold back, though! To leave all of the humiliation out of it is like leaving out the romance in a love novel — it’s what makes it a great book that everyone will want to read. It’s relatable.
Don’t take this the wrong way, please! I mainly just write fiction — the most outrageous kind, if anything. I write about Vampires, Werewolves, Demons, Witches, and more. I write about a Prince Charming who comes to sweep the damsel in distress off her feet and carry her to his palace. I write about anything with a mythic and romantic twist — but sometimes I won’t have them. I write about a kiss.
I also write about myself. In every entry that I have written to you, I have let you know about me in ways that I could never let anyone else know. I have confided in you since I was five. You know everything there is to know about me.
And, frankly, that scares me.
The written words are more powerful than the said.
Love,
Alison
