Dear Diary,
I was just thinking of the ol’ saying, “survival of the fittest”. It’s amazing how accurate it is to modern society. Only a few people have really “survived”.
It’s all about glamour and fame and money. Every day is a competition to up-show everyone — to prove that you’re better.
It’s been that way since the beginning of time.
Whatever happened to truth and innocence and good-will. What is so wrong with trying to do good because you want to, instead of our selfish reasons inside?
I’m no better than anyone else. I’ve lied, stolen, cheated, and done a lot of other things. I’m trying to do good — but sometimes good will become such a confusing and foriegn thing that I mess up. I do want to help people — my family and myself. I want my sister to live like any other seven year old girl — I want my mom to be able to afford a house or apartment of her own.
I dunno, though. Those are still pretty selfish. Why don’t I try to help the entire world?
Oh, yeah.
Because the world doesn’t want help! Only once it realizes that it needs help will it get it.
Which is a very long time away.
I … I wrote something down a few days ago … something that I’d like to share with you, if you don’t mind. Well, here goes it:
“I hold no prejudice toward anyone
I show no respect to those who have shown me none
I shall do no wrong, no matter how much I have been wronged
I will stand against injustice
I will fight against the evils and protect my people”
Like it? I certainly do. It was written for one of my characters. I call it “Phoenix Seraphina’s Lesson” — catchy, right?
Love,
Alison
