Kai led them to a place in the middle of the forest surrounding their town.

"All of you are officially of the Mito rank now that you have a master. My journey with you starts today and ends when you elevate onto the Gian rank. I expect that you are all familiar with the ranking system." Kai said looking at the three faces pouring all their energy into understanding his words.

Accompanying Mira in her lack of attention was a bored brunette boy, Gael. Enriched with all the good genes of the Dawson house, he hoped to succeed without working too hard using nepotism. Right this instant, as Kai spoke, all he could hope for was retiring and living a quiet life somewhere away from the elites. However he knew his dream was a stretch. With power comes responsibility, not comfort. He knew he was lazy and not well suited for being a chief representing the Dawson clan much like his mother had hoped. Unfortunately for him, bailing from being a shinobi was out of the question.

"I do not know your names nor do I care to as of now, and I need you to change that. Your first training as mitos with me is to make me acknowledge you as a capable ninja. Go ahead and attack me, and give it your best shot. Do not hold back." Kai said with his hands in the pockets of his loose jeans.

"Master Kai, some of us might have abilities which require fields. This place is too crowded with trees." Another guy spoke up aggressively. Mira nodded in agreement not knowing why she was doing so, she had no powers so she was definitely the least bothered by the trees.

Kai looked at him with a neutral expression.

"Do not address me as your master yet. It is only fair that I give myself the same treatment as I do to you. Unless I have gained your respect, I am not worthy of a title as honorable as that of a master." He said to all of them.

"But sir, I already have so much respe-" Nina got cut off by Kai smashing his fist onto the ground. It made a noise as loud as that of the rumbling of thunder. Instead of the ground crumbling however, it started rising up. Mira gasped as the ground they stood on started hauling up and expanding around the parts surrounding the five of them.

Mira was dumbstruck by his magic. She couldn't help but be amazed already, even starstruck. Her own father had failed to amaze her with his abilities like this, yet she barely ever even saw his powers.

When it stopped moving, they all looked around to see that they were high above from where the village was. It was like they had climbed a mountain, but this mountain had a wider top with a narrower bottom.

"You wanted a bigger field right? Here you go, show me what you've got now. If anyone needs any other accommodations, let me know." Kai said, looking directly at them.

"Yes Master Kai." Nina said enthusiastically. Kai frowned, disappointed by her, he had not expected them to start addressing him as master just yet but she still did. That ground thing shouldn't be enough to impress them. They were still too naive and had a long way to go.

"I'll go first!" The hyper kid who had asked him for more space earlier charged towards Kai in a cartoon like manner while screaming to hype himself up. Mira could not keep her eyes away from the unbothered, somewhat bored Kai staring at the dark complexioned boy with much disappointment evident.

The boy punched him hard on his gut but his attack looked to have somehow rebounded at him, as he flew far away himself. Kai still stood firm, not even flinching.

Mira then forced her eyes at Nina to watch her next move, she had always been the golden child. The perfect fighter, strategist, student, everything. What was she planning to do? She then saw determination in her sister's eyes.

How?

How so with an opponent like Kai?

Mira was already terrified of him. In her head, the best strategy she could come up with was to run. Nina knew she stood no chance, yet she was annoyingly cocky about it. It was one of the things Mira admired about her sister. Confidence.
