Mira and her friends plus Nina all gathered in front of the chiefs as they were called upon. Kai was still absent due to his mission. They could tell the severity of the situation Kai was having to deal with due to him being accompanied by two other chiefs alongside him, one being Gael's father.

They were all slightly nervous as they had never stood in front of the high ranked ones by themselves. Especially Mira since both Kai and Gael's dad, who seemed to have her back more often, were gone. Now there sat her father looking all high and mighty.

"We have collectively decided to send the five of you on a mission." Mira's father said with a glint of amusement present in his eyes.

"A mission?" Ares asked, confused. "But master Kai is not currently here. He's out..."

"Do you plan on carrying your master Kai everywhere you go kid?" Another chief retorted back with a smug undertone.

"What's our mission sir?" Nina asked, stirring the conversation away, trying to focus on the more important thing at hand.

"It's rather simple, you will all fight off some scrotes attacking the pack borders around Orachi." Chief B spoke up looking towards all of them, then stopping his eyes when it landed on Mira. "You will reach there through a cave which starts from our land and ends there, it's a shorter path than going around."

"Fighting off a bunch of delinquents without Kai? We are all just mitos. Isn't that dangerous? And kind of against the rules?" Gael narrowed his eyes.

"Well not when we are sending a ninja of the gian rank with you." Another chief spoke up with a slight smile.

"Who?" Gael asked roughly, failing to see anyone else around.

All the chiefs smirked and exchanged knowing glances around.

"Congratulations Gael Dawson, the other chiefs and I have collectively decided to promote you in rank based on your performance at the ceremony." Chief A smiled profoundly as all their faces dropped.

"GAEL?!" The trio screamed.

"Me?" Gael asked horrified.

"Him?!" Nina also followed behind, taken aback. But he had lost?

"Yes Gael, you will lead the squad through their next mission. You will carry out this mission and report back to us. All necessary details will be faxed over to your house. It should take a span of three days to complete the mission and return. Alright now you are all dismissed, good luck with your mission." Chief C said.

They all exchanged somewhat confused looks before leaving.

Once outside, Mira looked at their faces and spoke up.

"I wish Kai was here. He would object to it I think..." Mira said.

"It's okay, they are right. Kai can't always be with us. Even Kai preaches that around." Gael groaned, suddenly remembering the promotion. He tried so hard to avoid it and this is what he got? He could not believe it; luck was not in his favor today.

"Congrats? I guess." Mira said as his two other friends also mumbled a congrats to which he groaned.

"Why, oh why me?!" Gael slumped down against the ground exaggeratingly.

"We'll meet back here." Nina rolled her eyes and left, getting sick of Gael.

He groaned again. He had to be in charge now? The universe must hate him.

His friends all laughed at his drama and left him there to sulk as they also had to pack.

Mira filled her mental checklist to see if she had taken everything required. They could not carry big bags, so it was filled with necessities like feminine hygiene products, a toothbrush, a pocketknife, some bread, water and a hair comb. Much to her surprise, she heard her father's voice through the walls. Had he come back?
