That same day Mira waited till night arrived. She watched and practiced on her own from the sidelines while Elias trained with Kai.
She had questions for Kai tonight and much appreciation for Elias. When Kai had arrived home, Elias was beyond frightened for his friend and what their teacher might do to her. More scared than she was at least. So when he begged Kai for her life, she pouted and whined like the baby she was.
"Don't listen to her, please let her go this time sir Kai. She won't act like this again."
"I can't guarantee that Elias. I probably will." She whispered to him. He hushed her up.
"You're not exactly helping M."
"Sorry." She shrugged.
Kai sighed, looking at the two buffoons arguing quietly amongst each other. He should feel drained but he was just relieved that she was doing better.
"You," He said walking towards Mira.
"I'll actually change my name one day Kai, I swear." She looked back with equal determination. Oh how he wanted to punish this girl. She was his only student who wasn't afraid of him, no matter how angry he got. She was at a level of shamelessness he had never faced before.
And yet, he never wanted her to change. Ever.
He poked her forehead once with two fingers, looking straight into her soul.
"You are never getting away with something like this again. Next time, I'll punish you. So don't test me brat."
She smiled slightly.
She reacted exactly how he expected. Always cocky, never scared.
"Okay Kai." She said and moved towards his porch.
He smiled to himself as she made herself comfortable. What a brat.
Mira sat cozily and watched as the two practiced and practiced more.
"How do you have Elias' powers? He uses wind, and you're using wind. What is your power, Kai?" Mira asked. His wind powers were slightly different from Elias'. Elias definitely was not as fluent as Kai when using magic.
"Trouble, meditate. That might trigger your magic to come alive." Kai dismissively said.
"I'm not good at it. You know that I can't stay quiet and calm!" She said, frowning. She had enough of meditating during her call practice. She wondered though, if she had done more meditating would her call have been better?
"I'll reward you if you do so." Kai said, turning to her once.
"Grapes?" She asked excitedly and he smiled with a nod. So she tried to meditate.
"Why did you stop attacking Elias?" Kai asked Elias.
"Sir, you were speaking to Mira." He said with a slight frown as he justified himself.
"Yes, that should've been your opening. You should never stop fighting to be polite, I'm against you right now so attack whenever you feel like I'm distracted."
"But you're never distracted."
"Not the point. Try again now."
They trained for another three hours before he dismissed Elias. The boy was beyond exhausted now. Kai noted to himself to rebuild his stamina. Powerful magic was nothing without energy to feed it.
Which also reminded him to keep physically training Mira alongside him. If she had dormant magic it would be hard for her body to control if she was not physically able.
