They all flashed in front of another boulder. Gael sighed in relief at the lack of sunlight.
He was bleeding everywhere, with his arm split open, muscles and bones showing. But the pain was irrelevant to him; all he cared about was that they were finally safe, away from the war.
"IS EVERYONE OKAY?" He asked as he slumped downwards, unable to stabilize his body.
He was never trained much by his dad regarding teleporting with others. It was a hard job, as his dad put it, requiring a lot of training and experience, none of which he had.
He doubted if he could teleport again, and yet, his dad could carry more than twenty people much further distances without a single scratch on his body.
"Yes!" He heard choruses of voices and sighed in relief. Everyone's okay. That was one hell of an experience.
All of them stood still in their places, avoiding moving an inch, traumatized by what had happened in the past few minutes. It was so swift, but it all felt so real.
"Guys."
They heard Elias's pained voice.
"I don't feel so good..." He let out a mumble, as if struggling to say the words.
All of them turned to him. He was faced away from them, shriveled up, and mumbling something.
"E!" Mira ran to him in fear, her eyes widened, and she screamed out in horror as she stood in front of him.
An arrow was embedded deep into his chest as he started to cough out bright red blood.
"GUYS." Mira screamed in sheer panic, taking hold of his hand. "We have to take him back, hurry! Elias, it's okay, you're going to be okay."
Mira noticed how her hands were now wet and red as she held onto him, and his hands were colder than ever. Elias coughed out more as warm tears started to drip from his eyes.
"We have to close up the wound," Ares said, pacing back and forth.
"Nina, do you have a gauge? We can't go back fast enough. We must do something. We won't make it back home," Gael said, panicking whilst holding onto his own arms in pain.
Nina frantically searched through her entire bag, turning it upside down to throw all its contents out, yet no gauges. She panicked, scrambling through everything.
"FUCK, WHERE IS IT?!" Mira screamed, her voice breaking amidst. The tension around the room was vivid.
"We can't carry him fast enough," Gael whispered as his eyes watered, looking at the deep cut on his chest. "It's okay, buddy, you're going to be just fine."
He sobbed as Elias groaned again in pain.
"What do we do?" Mira whispered, her heart, her throat, everything was starting to ache as more and more tears started to drip down her face. There was blood everywhere.
"WE HAVE TO HURRY!" Ares screamed, trying to carry Elias so they could go back home.
"Guys... stop." He mumbled as everyone walked closer to him.
Elias looked at them with his bloodshot eyes.
"I don't..."
"Shh, please don't talk. We're gonna figure something out," Mira whispered, cupping his cheeks. "You'll be fine in no time."
She shut her mouth, trying to stop her sobs.
"You'll be okay."
Elias shook his head and gave a small smile as more tears dripped from his eyes.
"I don't think..." He gasped desperately for air.
"It's okay, shh," Mira said.
"Bud, stop talking," Gael begged.
"We have to carry him," Ares urged when Elias gestured him to stop and ushered them to move closer to him.
"I don't think I'll make it, guys." He coughed out more blood. Tears dripped down one by one from his eyes, and the red diameter around his chest increased in size with each passing second.
"Shut up, we have to get you back," Mira shook her head as she sobbed at his words.
"Sh, listen," Elias begged and sat them down.
"Thank you. For everything," he whispered in a raspy tone. "I am so grateful... t-to have-"
"E, stop it!" Mira wept. "You'll be okay, nothing will happen to you."
"Thank sir Kai fo-for me. For always treating me... equally..." He gasped for more air. Just another breath, just one more. He had so much more he wanted to do. Just a bit more time.
"Gael, tha-thank you for sti-ticking up fo-for me, you too Ares. I-" He slightly sobbed and grabbed onto his chest. "I am happier than I have ever been. Thank you for your apology- Nina. I love you guys. I have the... I had the opportunity to have the best of friends. Thank you."
"SHUT UP, WE HAVE TO GET BACK. GAEL, WHAT DO WE DO?!" Ares panicked as his own eyes welled up. He ran and sat next to Elias.
"I'm sorry E, I'm sorry for everything," Ares sobbed and Elias shook his head.
"Don't be. I had an amazing time," Elias said, desperately trying to keep his eyes open. He wanted to see them properly.
He slightly smiled and turned to his wreck of a best friend.
"I hate it... wh-when you cry," he said, raising his palm forward, wiping her tears with his shaking hands.
"You truly are the best... best thing that ever happened to me, M." He smiled widely. "The... the other day when we talked about... soulmates."
He let out a slight laugh as Mira wept, "You're my soulmate, Mira. I love you, forever, okay?"
She gasped to try and breathe better, "I love you too. More than anything or anyone."
"M, the rose wasn't from me. Don't let go of him. And if you want me to live," he used his other hand to clutch onto his chest.
"-then remember to always be happy, Mira-bira. And build a better Ahana for the kids... at the orph-" He sighed, trying to speak through the pain. He gasped again; he wouldn't make it for long. "I am so... lucky... to be surround- ed, by you guys right n-now."
"Tell the kids, Becky, I love them." He gave a huge smile and took one last look at everyone. Another tear dripped from his eyes. They all looked so broken; he wished he could see them smiling one last time.
Mira let out a scream in pain as his skin lost the last bit of color it had left, and his eyes went blank.
They all cried together, desperately waiting for all of this to be a nightmare.
A/N - I'm sorry...
