Mira and Elias had parted ways with their group quite a while ago. The duo were currently walking in unison as Elias counted each of their steps to ensure he marked the path right.
"So tell me!" Mira asked with a huge cheshire grin, wiggling her eyebrows in a teasing manner.
"Tell you what...?" Elias looked away, avoiding her eyes. He had a guess about what she wanted to know.
"What did Nina tell you?" She asked with a small smirk as he grew redder. She let out a giggle at his expression.
"She just apologized for acting like a bitch." Then he looked at Mira, cleared his throat and clarified, "She called herself a bitch, I'm not calling her one. I won't ever call her that. Or anyone as a matter of fact..."
"Fine, I'll call her one if you insist that much! She is a bitch, which is exactly why I'm surprised she apologized, that's so unlike her. At least now you can, you know, speak with her more freely and hang out and stuff." Mira said, poking his arms playfully.
Elias shook his head, dropping a piece of the map on the ground below.
"Doubt it. To be honest when she said sorry, all I could think about was how badly she mistreated you and how you deserve it much more than I do." Elias said and Mira rolled her eyes.
"She'll never apologize to me E. Let whatever happened between us stay between us. If she makes you happy, you should go for it." Mira said, giving a positive smile.
Elias gave an unsure shrug. He did not know if he wanted to pursue Nina romantically anymore, but it would be nice to have her as a friend. All five of them could get along better, and not just the four.
They continued for a few more hours, till they had a little bit of the map left.
They both stopped at the end they had reached.
"A dead end? That's disappointing." Mira mumbled when Elias shushed her.
"That's rather rude-" Elias cut her off by putting his hand around her mouth.
He then gestured for her to listen, as fear started evolving in his eyes. His face suddenly went pale.
Mira furrowed her eyebrows upon the screams.
The bitter realization then hit her and her eyes widened as she started to panic upon hearing it. The bone chilling obnoxious and loud cries and shouts horrified the two best friends.
They had reached the war zone.
They avoided making even the slightest bit of noise as they collectively gestured to each other.
Both agreed that they had to run back to their friends. As fast as possible.
And so they did that.
They tried to make a run for it. Both of their hearts racing, filled with adrenaline by now.
But, adding to their already present fear, they were met with a dead end instead despite following the trail they arrived from.
How- how did the cave close itself? They were sure they had used this path a while back.
Mira's teary and fright filled eyes stared at Elias who took her in for a hug, for the sake of both of their comforts.
They had to figure out a way to quietly get out, and leave before anything escalated further. Even though the overwhelming fear was coursing through them, they both knew they had to remain calm.
"What should we do?" Mira whispered in a shaky voice.
Elias looked around desperately trying to find an answer. He wasn't strong enough to break the boulders blocking their path back, he was sure Mira was not either.
He could not get his elephant here, Brea might grab a lot of attention when she initially roars upon being summoned, and this place was not cozy enough to fit an elephant through. And his wind had a large range, he can't specify it so that it only hits the boulders. Even then, he doubted it would budge.
And their friends? There's no way they would realize him and Mira are in danger this soon. It would take time and staying here was risky.
Brea was his best option but she cannot move in here.
Mira watched as Elias let her go and slightly closed his eyes and tried to think.
"I don't know what to do..." Elias said, looking down with his eyebrows lowered as a his eyes watered.
Their cursed luck got more vile when the background noises started to increase. Mira's also started to cry as the screaming and war cries got louder.
They both grabbed onto and held each other's arms tightly out of fear.
Loud bangs went off, which resulted in Mira to shriek slightly. Elias covered her mouth fearfully as more bangs went off.
"They are bombing everything." Elias mumbled out, near Mira's ear whose teary eyes widened.
She wondered if they were ever going to make it out alive. All she wanted was for all of them to return back to Ahana and have a laugh about how scared they were for no apparent reason. And she wanted to see Kai.
She was scared for her life and all she wanted to do was crawl into his arms and just stay there.
Elias wiped her tears as his own continued to fall.
The next few seconds to them was a blur.
The next bang which went off shook the entire cave to its core. Both of their grips on each other tightened and then the sun's light hit their face.
Sun?
Mira frightfully looked up to see that the cave was broken to make an opening from above the ground.
They both started to back up against the boulders.
A decapitated body fell through the opening as Mira tried to keep her screams in.
Elias tried to hide Mira behind him as a few people started peeking through.
"So the Moriks hide their ninjas here huh?" They heard a raspy voice.
Elias, out of sheer panic mustered up his entire strength and blew the biggest wind he could.
That heavy wind resulted in the man flying off.
He tried to quickly summon Brea, now that it was broken and had more space. They had to get out right now.
Their attempt failed however, the wind only seemed to have caught more attention as more and more war soldiers started peeking through the entrance.
As one of them was about to hit Elias, Mira shut her eyes and let out a scream.
The man immediately got carried away from Elias's face. Mira opened her eyes to see him get thrown off. She looked behind Elias to see Nina, Ares and Gael.
Impel. That's what that was. Mira sighed in relief but then her anxiety grew again. Why had they come here, like the two of them being here was not bad enough.
"We have to get out!" Elias panicked.
"Ares, give me your dagger." Gael said out loud and he quickly took it out. Nina meanwhile was fighting off the incoming ninjas by blocking the entrance with her impel.
"GAEL HURRY, I WON'T LAST LONG." Nina screamed out in fear as they all clustered next to Gael.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Mira asked, horrified by Gael's following actions.
He took in a breath and then used the knife to slit through his right arm horrifying Mira and Elias.
"He can't teleport others if he's unharmed." Ares explained moving close to Gael.
"SHIT!" Nina screamed when her impel broke apart.
"GUYS HOLD ON TO ME!" Gael frantically said as they all grabbed onto Gael.
"MIRA!" They heard Elias's scream as an arrow started flying towards her before everything went blank.
