Mira knocked thrice on Gael's door and patiently waited.

And waited.

And waited.

And knocked thrice again.

And wai-

"Hello, Mirabelle Nagami!" Chief G smiled at Mira wearing his formal attire.

"Woah, hey um... Sir... Is Gael?" She asked clearing her throat and trying desperately to prevent the burning cheeks from burning further at her little 'woah' to the chief.

He chuckled and nodded.

"Gael!" He called out, waited a second but then disappeared away from her sight.

Her eyes immediately widened like saucers as he appeared just as he left. She would have never caught him if Gael was not hanging around his arm, struggling to escape.

"Go away Mira. I was sleeping. We have one day off for fuc- AH." He flinched when his father dropped him.

"I was told to not allow you to curse. Sorry son." He shrugged.

"Stop listening to that old witch for onc-"

"GAEL WHAT DID YOU SAY?!" Mira heard a woman scream from inside the house.

"Nothing ma! I said I love you." Gael blushed and scratched the back of his head out of embarrassment. A habit Mira noticed Kai had.

Maybe Gael picked it up from Kai.

"Alright, off you go with your friend." Chief G said dismissively.

"No, I'm going back to bed. Go away Mira." Gael gruffed and got back up on his feet.

"Please, please pretty please, it's important." Mira begged and he rolled his eyes.

"You owe me." He glared and started taking his shoes out to head out.

"K, thanks." She said with a large smile as she clapped out of joy.

"Boy." Chief G stopped Gael's leaving figure. He put a hand on Gael's shoulder from behind him and leaned forward.

"Never insult my wife again." He smiled and patted. Gael gulped and nodded frantically before taking Mira's hand and leaving.

"Your dad's cool." Mira giggled. "I want someone to love me like he loves your mom."

"Love is stupid. I witness it every day. Trust me." Gael rolled his eyes and let go of her hand.

"I think it's sweet." Mira said, looking down.

"Anyway, why are you here?" Gael asked.

"Duh, it's Ares' birthday tomorrow. I wanted to do something for him. Elias is also in but he got held back by the kid's nap time. He'll meet us near Ahana soon."

"It's weird how the adults don't go there often considering it has magic and does prophecies and what not bullshit." Gael said and Mira gasped.

"Hey! I like Ahana." Mira mumbled thinking about how lucky she was to have not gotten Kenji like she had hoped during the Luminum ceremony.

Kai was everything she could have ever wanted.

"Okay okay, whatever. So, what do you wanna do for him? His dad's throwing him a party though."

"Oh. I didn't know. I might not get invited. I doubt Elias will too." Mira groaned out of frustration.

"No no, weirdly it's supposed to be for everyone. I don't know much though. But still, you're right we should do something for the four of us."
