Imagine: Your husband Eric has been sick for a while, and when you finally take him to the infirmary, you find out that he has a tumor.

Your husband, Eric, quickly gets up from bed and runs into the washroom to throw up, again. He's been extremely sick for the past week now and he refuses to go to the infirmary. Normally he just gets really bad migraines, but he always refuses to miss work, however since he's been constantly vomiting lately, he hasn't gone to work.

He walks back into the room and collapses on the bed holding his head in his hands, groaning. You walk over to him, "That's it Eric you're going to the infirmary whether you like it or not!"

"You're cute when you're angry," He tries to act cheeky, but fails due to pain.

"You're going! I already called Peter over and he's going to help me take you down!" You order him. Eric and Peter are basically brothers, and you absolutely love their relationship.

"You can't order me around Y/N, I'm a leader," he says teasingly.

"Not in this house," You joke back, "I'm the only leader around here!"

Peter knocks on the door a few minutes later and he helps take Eric down to the infirmary, the doctor, Mr. Jones, checks him over for a while then suggests that Eric gets an x-ray of his head, Mr. Jones seems concerned, but he isn't saying anything.

He sends Eric into a separate room and you look at Peter, scared, Peter turns to the doctor, "Is everything alright? Is Eric going to be okay?"

"I'd prefer not to answer your questions until the x-rays come in," He answers simply.

You and Peter sit in the waiting room, and Peter takes your hand, "Don't worry Y/N, everything's gonna be okay."

"Thanks Peter," You lean back in the chair and close your eyes for a moment, praying that Eric will be okay.

"Results are in," the doctor comes into the waiting room and asks you to follow him.

You stand next to Eric and hold his hand, "Alright, what's going on Mr. Jones?"

"I'm sorry, Eric has a brain tumor," You fall to your knees. This can't be happening, this cannot be happening.

"W-what?" Peter asks in shock, Eric stares solemnly at a blank wall in front of him.

"It can be removed, however, it is an extremely risky procedure, he may even lose his life," Mr. Jones explains, "Let me know what you decide, then we can set an operation date at the Erudite Hospital."

Mr. Jones finally leaves, Eric continues staring off into the distance, jaw clenched, and you begin sobbing, Peter kneels down next to you trying to get you to calm down. You jump when you hear the door slam shut, both you and Peter turn your heads and see that Eric has stormed out of the infirmary; this only causes you to sob harder.

"Why him Peter, why?" You cry.

Peter shakes his head and wipes a tear off his face, "Please stop crying Y/N, Eric needs you right now and you need to stay strong for him."

You go back to your apartment, and find a broken vase on the ground. You make your way to the bedroom and hear muffled sobs coming from the balcony.

"Eric?" You say stepping outside, he quickly turns away from you, but you see his puffy red eyes, "No, please don't cry Eric! Please baby, everything will get better, you'll have this operation and everything will go back to the way it was."

"And what if doesn't Y/N, I could fucking die!" You grab his face and turn it towards yourself.

"Where's the Eric I know? Where's the Eric I married? The Eric who wasn't afraid of anything, especially not death?!" You try to calm him down.

"I'm not afraid of dying, I'm afraid of leaving you! We just got married Y/N, I promised we'd live happily ever after, I don't want to leave you!" You can no longer hold back your tears, so you wrap your arms around his and hold on as if your life depends on it.

You both sit on the balcony holding each other and sobbing for God knows how long, until you hear a knock on the door. You get up wiping your tears and open it, Peter walks in holding a few takeout containers, "You might be upset, but you still need to eat."

He invites himself inside and starts setting the table, digging through all your kitchen drawers. The three of you solemnly eat dinner; the only conversation that takes place is deciding that Eric would get the operation.

After dinner you excuse yourself to the washroom, when you come back out you overhear Eric talking to Peter.

"If I die, you better take care of her Peter, she deserves to move on. If anyone, she trusts you the most, and I know you'd make the best partner for her in the future," You can't believe that Eric is actually trying to set you up with Peter in case he dies. You want to yell at him, but you don't you might only have a few days left with him, you don't want any moment spent fighting.

Today was the day Eric goes to Erudite, this evening his operation would begin, and you can't go with him, Max doesn't let you.

You spend the mornings and afternoons of the next few days working, and you spend the evenings hiding out in your room to avoid the sympathetic glances from the rest of the faction. Peter comes in every once in a while to bring you food. You love this guy, but you could never imagine yourself getting into a serious relationship with him, or anyone else for that matter, Eric would always be the only person you love.

It's been five days since Eric left, and you hadn't been able to get any news on him. That morning you were awoken by the sound of knocking at your door. You open it and see Peter, "Close your eyes Y/N!"

"What? Why?"

"Just do it!" He says hurriedly, you comply, only because you trust Peter, "You can open them now!"

You slowly open your eyes and see him. Eric is sitting in a wheelchair in front of you.

"Eric!" You squeal bending down to kiss him. When you notice that he isn't looking at you, you ask, "What's wrong? Did something go wrong during the operation?"

"About that," Peter says, "Don't freak out but during the surgery the doctors hit an optic nerve, leaving him temporarily blind. They say it might only last a day, or two, or a couple of months."

"What?!"

"I'm sorry Y/N," Eric finally says.

"No baby, don't be sorry, you're here, you're okay, that's all the matters," You say wheeling him into the apartment.

The next few days go by with you feeding him, helping him shower, helping him change, putting him to bed, and other everyday tasks. Eric feels humiliated that he can't do all these tasks and need you to help him with everything, but of course, you don't mind.

You wake up in the morning a few weeks after the accident, and see Eric laying there eyes shut, deep in sleep. I'm sorry this had to happen to you baby, you lean down and kiss his forehead.

You're in the kitchen when you hear Eric say, "I love your shirt today Y/N!"

"Aww than-" You quickly turn around, "wait what?"

He opens his arms towards you and you run into them, "You can see! Ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod you can see!"

You let a few tears slip as he says, "Thank you Y/N, you've been so amazing for the past couple of weeks. I don't even know what I would have done without you; you are literally the best wife anyone could ask for. Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

"Don't thank me Eric; I did it because I love you!" You lean up and kiss him.

Between kisses he says, "I love you too Y/N."
