"Do you always have to be an absolute asshole?!" You ask Eric exasperatedly.

"I wouldn't have to if you weren't always such a fucking child," He says coldly.

You worked alongside him as a leader, and you were walking home with him after a meeting -not that you wanted to walk with him, but you were neighbours, it was dark, and you didn't really have a choice. Your interactions with Eric were usually awful, but in today's meeting he kept questioning and criticising all your ideas and decisions, and it really got on your nerves.

You eventually part ways, walking up to your individual homes. It was Christmas Eve, snow was falling, and it was freezing outside. All you wanted was to cuddle up on your couch and binge-watch your favourite show, but after a moment of searching through your purse, you realized you had left your keys back at the office, fuck.

You're curled up on your doorstep, trying not to freeze to death, when you hear Eric's voice, "Y/N...? What happened?"

You stand up, trembling, "I-I forg-got my keys."

He sighs, "Well, you can come in if you want to."

"S-seriously? Why a-are you s-suddenly trying t-to help me?" Even in a state of near death, you can't push your stubbornness aside.

"I know we hate each other, but it's Christmas Eve, I'm not leaving you alone in the cold!" He opens the door wider, and you decide that it's your best option.

You walk inside and he meets you with a blanket and cup of hot chocolate in his hand, "What sparked this sudden kindness?"

"Christmas spirit," He shrugs sarcastically.

He takes you to his couch and passes you the remote, "You can pick."

After a few minutes of surfing through channels, you turn to him, "So what are your plans for tomorrow?"

"Nothing," He shrugs, "I'll probably just get some paperwork done."

"So you're just going to sit in here alone?" You ask.

"Yeah, why?"

"You can't spend Christmas alone!"

"Isn't that what you're doing?" He asks, before adding, "I have no one to spend it with."

"That's not the point," You chuckle, "Well, you know what? You have me. We can spend our Christmas together."

"I don't think we have a choice," He chuckles, "The office isn't going to be open tomorrow."

"Eric, I may have been wrong about you, you're not an absolute asshole."

He gives you a rare smile, "I may have been wrong too, you're not always a fucking child."

You smile back at him. Tomorrow's going to be interesting.
