76. Comforting Eric After His Parent's Death

Imagine: Your boyfriend, Eric, is on Four's side during the Abnegation attack. Once the attack is over, he discovers that his parents died and you have to comfort him when he breaks down.

You jump off the train in front of Erudite headquarters alongside all of the other loyal Dauntless members, your boyfriend, Eric, by your side. He'd had joined ties with Four during the Abnegation attack, and now all of you were prepared to storm Erudite. You look over at Eric and his face is overcome with worry.

"Hey, what's wrong?" You ask, gently shaking his arm.

"This is my former faction, and I'm scared for my parents," For a moment he looks sad, but then his expression hardens once again, "But faction before blood right?"

You sigh, "It's okay Eric, I'm sure they'll be fine."

"Yeah," He breathes before going into the headquarters, and you quickly follow him.

The attack is a bloodbath, both sides had people killed, bystanders who didn't have anything to do with it were killed, however in the end your side won.

You were back in the Dauntless compound and Eric was furiously pacing back and forth in your shared apartment. He was expecting a phone call, he didn't tell you what it was for, but he was extremely worried. Finally, his phone rings, and he picks it up instantly, after a few minutes of talking, his face drops, he goes absolutely pale, and you have never seen him look so devastated.

He hangs up the phone without another word, and heads towards the balcony; you grab his arm, "Eric-"

He pulls his arm away from you and storms out on to the balcony, and you give him a minute, and then follow after him, he's sitting down, holding his head in his hand, "Eric?"

He turns his head away from you, but that doesn't stop you from seeing the tears in his eyes, you rush up to his and kneel down, your heartbreaks, "Oh, Eric. Baby what happened?"

"It's my fault, I couldn't save them," Eric completely shatters after this, he sobs, never in a million years would you have thought you'd see him like this.

"What's your fault Eric? Please tell me what's going on?"

"My p-parents were k-killed," He whispers, his voice shaking. You squeeze your eyes shut, and let a single tear slip, you never knew Eric's parents, but from everything he told you, you felt like they were your own.

"I-I'm so sorry Eric," You whisper, not knowing what to say. You pull Eric into your arms, and let him sob into your shoulder, finally, after what seemed like hours, his tears died down, but he stayed in your arms staring off into the distance.

"I'm sorry you had to see that Y/N," He finally whispers.

You quickly shake your head, "Don't be Eric, I love you, and that means I'm here for you through anything."

"I know, thank you," He says gently.

"And Eric, it was not your fault, if it was anyone's fault it was Jeanine's, and now she's dead, Eric I'm so sorry this had to happen, but there was nothing you could have done about it."

"I should have been there for them," He looks down, "I lost my family Y/N."

"You know what they say, 'whenever one door closes another opens', maybe this is a sign that you have someone to start a new family with," You look at him, then down at your hands.

"I guess you're right, I may have lost them, but I have you."

Eric leans in and presses a kiss to your lips, "And you will always have me."

"I love you Y/N."

"I love you too Eric."
