Eric POV

2:53 a.m.

2 fucking 53 a.m. and some maniac was hammering at my door.

With a groan I got up and walked out of my bedroom towards the door. Whoever that was, they better have a good fucking reason to wake me up.

The hammering never stopped and I was surprised that no one else seemed to be woken up by the noise.

I finally reached the door and before I could even open it, I heard the sniffling of the person on the other side. I frowned, already confused by what was going on.

"E-Eric? P-Please open the door. I heard your f-f-footsteps." Y/N?

I quickly pulled the door open, just to be met with a hug. Y/N, who had been on the other side of my door threw her arms around my waist as soon as she had the chance. I wrapped one arm around her, while the other still held the door open.

I slowly pulled her inside my apartment, so that I could close the door behind her.

"Y/N, what's wrong?" I frowned at the girl. One of the nicest, even to me, people of Dauntless crying at my door. What was going on?

"I-I'm sorry, I know it's th-three in the m-mo-morning, but I c-can't find my cat." She was full on sobbing now.

"Slow down, Y/N. Why do you have a cat? You know pets aren't allowed in the compound." She pushed herself away from me.

"That's beside the point, Eric! Daisy is g-gone! I can't find her in my apartment, so she must've gotten out. She could be in danger!"

I was surprised by her outburst, and I had to admit that she looked adorable. Tears still streaming down her cheeks, with a mean glare in her eyes.

"Okay, okay. I'll help you. What does she look like?"

"Black."

"Just black?"

Y/N nodded. That was the moment I noticed what she was wearing. Some shorts and only a tank top. Way too cold for the temperature.

"Wait here for a second."

I went back to my bedroom and grabbed a pair of sweatpants and a sweater she could pull on. When I returned to my living room, she was pacing up and down.

"Here, put this on." She looked up and her eyes widened at the clothes. A quiet 'thank you' escaped her lips before she asked me to turn around put on the pieces I brought her. As soon as she was done with that, she let me know and we made our way out of my apartment.

I first insisted on searching her apartment again, just to be sure that she isn't there. After turning it upside down, I too was convinced that the cat had indeed left the apartment.

Together, Y/N and I scoured the entire compound, but turned up with no results. Whenever we met someone it was quiet hard to come up with lies about what Y/N and I were doing in the middle of the night. I'm sure that the next morning all of Dauntless would be sure that Y/N and I are dating...

Not that I would mind...

Anyway, in the end, Y/N and I sat down at the Chasm, having no clue about where else to search. We went close to everywhere, at least everywhere we could go without having to explain too much. I was wracking my brain, trying to think of that one place where Y/N's cat could be. Meanwhile, the girl was quietly sniffling beside me.

"How did you even get Daisy?" Nice, Eric. Good small talk.

"I found her outside the compound, starving and almost frozen to death. It was obvious that I had to take her with me, no way I would just leave her there to die. Bringing her in was surprisingly easy...but keeping her secret...holy shit that was hard."

"Wait...so that time I heard meowing from your apartment it was an actual cat and not you playing around?" Y/N laughed, a nice change to her crying.

"You actually believed that? Who just meows randomly?" She was still laughing when I heard that same sound I had hear months ago.

Meow...mew?

Y/N hadn't noticed it yet, but I was already on my feet, trying to find the source. As soon as Y/N saw me she stopped laughing and frowned at my behavior.

Mew!

Y/N's eyes lit up and she jumped to her feet.

"Daisy! Daisy, where are you?"

Mew...

I followed the sound until I saw a furry black blob one a cliff leading down the Chasm.

"Oh shit..."

Y/N and I just starred at small thing down there, wondering how to get to it. "If you lay flat on your stomach and hold my arm, I should be able to reach her!" Y/N was already crossing the Chasm to get to the other side, and I was following her, but when I heard her suggestion, I stopped.

"Are you crazy?! If I lose my grip, you'll die! Let's just talk the officials, we'll find a way to get her out of there without risking your life."

"But they will take her away! I won't let that happen." She was already taking her pants off when I reached her.

"Y/N, stop for a second and let us think this through. We-"

"No. I will do it with or without your help Eric. I have to get her, okay?" She looked so...sure and strong of herself that I couldn't resist.

My hands landed on her waist and pulled her close, my lips ghosted right over hers, but I didn't dare to close the small distance, not wanting to do something that she wouldn't want. But I didn't have to wait long for her answer.

Her lips crashed against mine and her arms wrapped around my neck. My hands moved from her waist to her back, and I pulled her as close as possible while our lips moved against each other.

Meow?

Y/N pulled away and looked at the edge. Then she turned back to me.

"Do you trust me?" Reluctantly I nodded. She nodded back, before she quickly pressed her lips against mine. Then she turned serious and pulled away completely.

Both of us took off our sweaters and she quickly tugger her tank top into the hem of her shorts, not that I would have minded the view.

We quickly got ready, me on my stomach, and her already on the edge of the cliff. I swallowed the lump in my throat and nodded at her, grabbing onto her left arm, so that she could let go with her right.

I slowly lowered her until she was at the right height. Daisy immediately latched on to Y/N and I managed to pull both of them up, but I only let go of the breath I was holding when both of them were back on solid ground.

Y/N and I laid on the floor, panting from all the exhaustion and anxiety, while Daisy moved around between us and purred happily. Both of us looked at the feline in the same moment, causing us to laugh at each other.

We only moved when we started to hear people across the compound. We had no idea what time it was, but it was obvious that people started to wake up.

As quickly and stealthily as possible, we made our way back to our apartments where we had to say goodbye for the moment. A quick kiss and Y/N disappeared in her apartment, cursing Daisy and that she had to tidy up her apartment now. I chuckled while I entered my own apartment.

I could not wait to see my neighbor again.
