 Even though you just had a short glance of him before you jumped into the moving train, you knew exactly who he was. He looked different of course, way more muscles, the black clothes, the tattoos, but you could still make him out easily.

You saw him almost everyday when you grew up, you could probably make him out just by his smell. He went away from Erudite 3 years ago and today was the day of your initiation.

Of course you chose Dauntless, you always knew you belong there more than anywhere else. You knew Eric would be there too and that would mean a lot of trouble since both of you grew up bullying and tormenting each other, but you were fine with it. Eric made his way through the crowd of people in the train to get a first look at all the new initiates and he walked pass you like you didn't even existed. To be fair, puberty hit you like a high speed train, so you weren't really surprised that he didn't notice you.

After a few more minutes you could see how the first people in the train started jumping out of it and when you looked outside you saw that they were landing on a roof. Though you didn't suffer from vertigo, jumping out of a moving train onto a roof 30 feet in the air was not exactly fun in your opinion. But you had to do it in order to become Dauntless so you stepped back, pushed yourself away from the wall and jumped out of the open train and landed rather harshly on the roof of the building. You could hear moans from the other initiates after the impact but a loud, rough voice mad them go silent.

"Stop being so pathetic and get your asses up again, initates. Now!" Everyone stood up immediately and a half circle formed around the leader who was standing at one end of the roof.

"A new life is waiting for you and it's not going to be easy. If you really want to become a true Dauntless you have to proof yourself. If you fail, you get kicked out and that means you will become factionless, so you better give all you have. Now, who jumps first?" After Eric pointed with his thumb over the roof where he was standing and raised his brows to looked through the crowd of people who were all clearly confused.

"Jump?", you heard one of the initiates ask and Erics face had a little evil, grin on it.

"How about you stop asking questions and just do what i tell you? I heard the name Y/N Y/L/N earlier, how about you come out and show yourself, i bet you're still the same little beast from 3 years ago."

You knew he would do something like that at some point, he just couldn't resist to humble you. So you stepped out of the the circle and when Erics face froze in shock you smiled as sweet as you could and said :" Sorry to disappoint you Coulter, but only one of us stayed ugly and pathetic and that surely is not me.".

You walked pass him and got on the edge on the roof and looked down. All you could see was a black hole in the roof of another building below you and you just tried to trust Eric that you wouldn't die if you jumped down. Of course you wouldn't let him notice that you were scared, so you turned to him one more time.

"See you down there, Coulter." You closed our eyes and jumped, trying to keep yourself from screaming. Only after a few seconds you landed softly in a net and you let out a sigh of relief. A guy named Four helped you to get out of the net and asked about your name and congratulated you for being the first one to jump down. After a few minutes everyone had jumped, Eric was the last one to come down. He just threw you an angry glance and bumped with his shoulder against yours to make you stumble. The following weeks will not be easy with him as your leader, but you were stoked to see what will happen.
