Imagine: Eric being angry that you chose Dauntless because he's worried about you.

You finish dinner and walk out of the cafeteria on your first night in Dauntless. As you walked through the door, you felt someone grip your upper arm; you turned to see a tall, familiar man. It finally hits you that you're looking at Eric, "I need to talk to you."

He pulls you down to an empty corridor. You had met Eric a few years ago in Erudite and you had become pretty good friends with him, "Eric! I barely recognized you!"

"What were you thinking?!" He barks quietly.

You're taken aback at first, "What do you mean?"

"Transferring to Dauntless? Are you insane Y/N?" He takes a deep breath, trying to calm himself down.

You still couldn't register his sudden outburst, you were friends, but never close enough for him to get angry at you for your decisions, "Eric, what are you talking about?!"

He sighs, "You have no idea what you just got yourself into."

"Eric, this was my decision, I don't know if you think I'm too weak or what the problem is, but this doesn't concern you." You glare at him for a moment before walking out of the corridor.

The next morning, you make your way to training room, not prepared to see Eric after what had happened yesterday.

When you walk in, you expect Eric to say something, but to your surprise, he barely even looks at you.

You're throwing knives when Eric approaches you, "You missed."

You stare at him, your knife was about 3 inches away from the bull's-eye, most of the initiates couldn't even hit the target. You don't respond to him and just throw the knife, closer this time, but still not perfect. He just rolls his eyes, still unimpressed. What the hell is his problem?

The next few training sessions are the same, you're excelling more than most of the initiates, you're top 5 in ranks, yet Eric still keeps picking on you. He's especially hard on you and he points out every single one of your tiny flaws.

One day after training, you're the last one left in the training room, and just as you're about to leave when Eric calls out, "You could have fought better today initiate."

"I beat him!" You say, exasperatedly throwing your hands in the air, "I don't know what I did to you Eric, nor do I know what more to do. I'm trying my best!"

He stares at your face coldly for a moment before taking a breath and letting his facade fall. He steps closer to you, "I'm sorry Y/N. Look I was just angry that you chose Dauntless."

"Why? Do you think I'm not strong enough?" You ask genuinely.

"No! You're one of the strongest people I know," He says, "I was just worried about you."

"Why? I can take care of myself Eric."

"It's not that, I've seen what this faction does to people. You've always had such a big heart, and you're tough, but you're a good person. I didn't want this place to ruin that."

You step closer to him and take his hand, "I'm the same girl you met five years ago, and I'm not going to change that easily. I promise you that."

"I'm glad you're here though," He finally says, giving you a rare smile.

You stand up on your tiptoes and kiss him on the cheek, right next to his lips, just not close enough to touch, "So am I."
