Elves and men rally into lines as we push the enemy back suffering many losses on both sides. I catch glimps of familiar faces amongst the fray but no sign of Koa or Thranduil.  A familiar shadow sweeps overhead as Kaito swoops low dropping a scroll which I catch ducking behind a boulder to read it

A group has cut off and is headed for the city. Need help. Hurry

I recognise the handwriting as my thirds, Garrens. Whistling twice a horse I don't recognise canters over with no rider. Swinging into the saddle I lead him forward heading towards the city a few elves on horseback following close behind where we find a large group of orcs making their way towards the gates. Garren and six of my own soldiers are standing in their way. I urge the horse to go faster leaning down to pluck arrows of the floor shooting orcs as they come into range also putting several into my quiver.

The elves behind me do the same as we advance. Jumping down from the horse I raise my blade fighting my way to Garrens side "Did any more escape this way?" he grunts blocking an attack "Yes, several ran north." I groan whistling for Elira "I'll go after them. Protect the city." he nods once "Be safe captain." swinging myself up onto Elira "Faster Elira we can't let them reach the trees or they will be lost."

Balancing myself I knock an arrow as the orcs come into view. Fifteen in total. As soon as they are in range I fire two arrows both hitting their targets. The orcs turn and I knock another arrow slowing Elira, only thirteen left and four arrows. Excellent odds. Shooting the two biggest I put away my bow and take out two daggers jumping and rolling before throwing them taking out my sword as I come up. "How you all doing?" they all growl raising their own weapons "Good talk." Taking a deep breath I raise my sword "Lets see what you can do."

Ducking and diving I gain a long scratch on my left arm. Spinning out of range I take several deep breaths steadying my sword arm, five left. "Who wants to go first?" one steps forward who is quickly headless leaving four who remain out of range slowly edging back towards the distant tree line. "Come on I don't have all day." the four seem to exchange a silent word before advancing with more energy than I have forcing me back several steps to keep myself from being hit.

It feels as if every inch is bruised and battered as I fight picking up a horse riding towards me and a bow string going taunt. Keeping the orcs attention focused on me I count the hoof falls before flipping back and dropping down into a roll coming up as five arrows go flying overhead each finding its target. Garren comes to a hault in front of me smiling grimly "I apologise for the delay captain." I chuckle taking his offered hand "Thank you. Lets get back to the city."

As we ride a ghastly gust of icy wind flys across the plain along with a roar that scapes down my spine. "What do you think that was?" I shiver slightly looking out towards the volcano "I think that was a victory." Elira runs along side us so I jump across patting her neck gently "Lets go find out."
