He hates his name.
He hates his name with a burning passion. He wanted to change it multiple times bit always got denied.
The reason being is obviously that je shares his name with Ivan the Terrible.
But even worse than having the same name as a tyrant:
Russia used to be Novgorod. (The Battle on Ice was fought between Novgorod and the Teutonic Order).
Ivan the Great destroyed and burnt down the land, plundered the villages and massacred and tortured the civilians.
Russia, being quite a child back then, obviously was mortified. He hates his name and it always brings him close to his borders being called 'Ivan'.
