After Brandenburg insulted Prussia on basis of his heritage repeatedly, he eventually hit her and threatened her in the 1770s. He reminded her that he is superior to her, that he has full ability to demote her from nobility and that he is the reason she can finance her lavish style of living.

They were disturbed by Frederick the Great who in turn had a conversation with Gilbert about his actions and what Adelina did.

While getting away largely unscathed, Adelina was hesitant to insult Prussia personally afterwards.
This stopped in the 1920s/30s when the government was on her side.

Gilbert was told to don't use violence but instead report the incident and to threaten her if she insults him again.
