"Hi, welcome to the Snowtel!" A robot in blue greeted as he topped a snow cone.
Jade panted in exhaustion after the long climb up the swirl to the Snowtel. "You look new here, here, let me help you up!" The robot said as he approached and helped Jade up to his feet.
"That...*huff* was excruciatingly painful to climb. Maybe I should have learned to fly vertically upwards first...got freaking dammit." Jade took a glance at the robot who helped him up. "And yes—I'm new here."
"Awesome! I'm Lou! And it's nice to meet you. I'm assuming you came here to register to be a brawler?" The robot, now named Lou, asked. Jade nodded, "Yeah, I'll be needing some rest soon. But that's my goal right now."
He headed through the glass doors and stepped into the golden lit hotel. A counter sat at the front as a person dressed in a penguin suit was writing something on papers.
"That's my boss, he's a little hot-headed but you'll be fine." Lou said. Jade nodded and proceeded towards the penguin. The penguin looked up from his papers and nodded, as if showing—"What do you want?"
"I-" "Hey Boss! This fine chap here is registering to be a brawler. Get him a room and some supplies, and I'll handle the rest." Lou said over Jade's shoulder. Jade moved aside as Lou received a paper from the penguin.
The penguin shouted some gibberish and an old man came running over. Lou handed Jade the paper as he looked past the notes and signed it.
The old man handed Jade a satchel of Gems and coins before leaving. "Thanks Gale! You done?" Lou asked politely. Jade looked through more of the notes, they read the usual of 'age' or 'contact number' but something caught Jade's eye—'weapon of choice'
He was about to fill in using hovering swords but decided to keep it to himself. He decided to fill in 'shotgun rifle' instead. He'd rather do the bare minimum of what he needs than waste his energy trying to put in his all in this resistance he's joining.
"Alright. I'm done."
Lou accepted it and discussed it with the penguin.
"Okay...you can try shooting or doing an attack."
Jade raised his eyebrow before shrugging and shooting his rifle at a signboard that Lou pointed at.
"Huh. Alright then. We will appoint you as 'Super Rare' and your room will be at level 2."
Jade accepted his keys as Lou guided him. "Super rare? That's amazing! But why such an odd term?"
Lou shrugged, "I don't know..." he pondered a little, "But what I do know is that you are not that high on the 'coolness' level. There are multiple types like 'rare' and 'legendary' so it's not all that impressive. But-"
"Coolness level? Excuse me?" Jade hissed as he looked insulted.
'There they go.' Lou thought.
"It's not bad per say...but others may like being legendary more...sooo. Hey but I can't do anything. Mr. P is the one that decides first. He uses the rules given to him to give types. I guess you just aren't that unique?"
"Unique? (Maybe I should have put my actual power) Are you serious? C'mon."
"It's just that many of us use shotguns already. What's your super anyway? You literally just shot a longer range. So it's kinda like Shelly, another similar brawler to you."
Jade was about to defend himself, but stopped. If I stay boring, less attention would be on me. It's not like I'm going to stay here for long...
"You know what? It's fine." Jade concluded. Lou did and 'okay suits you' action before pointing at Jade's room, "That's yours. Remember the number. I'll be going now, uhh, what's your name?""Jade"
"Ah, Jade, well see you soon then, Jade." The ice bot cheered as he left.
Jade looked to his room as he took out his keys. He fumbled with them until he picked out the right one and unlocked the door. He opened the wooden door and looked through the simple room.
"It's not much, but it'll do." Jade remarked before placing his bag on the table. He opened the satchel and found green gems and gold coins with smooth skull symbols on them. He kept them in his bag as he took out the shard piece from his bag. He looked through the canister as he saw the two pieces inside.
"Two pieces down...only a dozen more to go." He sighed and placed the canister back into his bag. He took off his boots and plopped himself on the bed, slowly drifting to sleep.
Eventually, he fell into a deep sleep, but his mind still turned and spun—trying to figure out ways back home.
From another room...
A white haired girl was texting on her phone as she posted a picture of the new guy in the apartments.
"I can't WAIT to see the new brawler! I saw him with my own eyes. I'll see him tomorrow. For now, I'll go to bed."
