Chapter 26: Assistance

Edgar returned shortly, seeing Jade restocking shelves with ease. Jade juggled some souvenirs when Griff wasn't looking, but quickly put them away when Edgar came.

"Hey! You're back. How was it?" Jade asked quickly.

"So awesome. Thanks I guess for letting me try the role. I think I prefer delivering over restocking." Edgar replied.

Jade smiled and checked the time, "Well, it's almost time for our break. Only bout' 10 minutes."

Edgar made his way behind the counter to talk to Colette. Griff came out from his office shortly after, "I'm heading for lunch. Clear the place up and you're off for your break!"

Jade nodded and adjusted some merch while Edgar and Colette cleaned the floors and walls.

Griff checked the cash register before taking the money and leaving the shop. However, he immediately stopped in his tracks before taking out a jar of coins and plopping some coins in his hands.

"He's using his weapons!" Edgar yelled as he rushed out of the shop, past the confused Jade.

Jade caught up with Edgar and stood outside of the shop—now seeing what Griff was staring at.
"Holy crap. That's one huge robot." Edgar commented.

Jade immediately started making his way towards the robot, who was looming at least twice the height of the skyscrapers.

Jade climbed a pipe, upwards through a building as Colette and Griff evacuated civilians. Edgar followed Jade.

Jade reached the top of a short building as he summoned a sword and started hovering on it.

"Woah! Jade what the hell?" Edgar shouted as he saw the man look at him before flying ahead.

Jade concentrated as he flew through buildings. Edgar tried to follow on with his parkour skills, jumping through buildings.

The large robot burst through a large building as it grabbed one and threw it near Jade. The earth shook as buildings crashed into one another.

Debris and shrapnel came flying by towards the pair as Edgar took cover behind a large vent pipe. Jade dipped down into an abandoned apartment as he used the balcony and hid from the debris.

After the dust had settled, Jade quickly started climbing again. He summoned a sword and hovered, attempting to fly upwards vertically. Edgar caught up to him shortly and was panting profusely.

"Dude? What are you *huff* doing?" Edgar asked through bated breath. "Attempting to help? I need to focus." Jade replied sternly.

Jade suddenly ascended upwards, "Nice! Alright..." Jade balanced himself a little before accelerating towards the giant robot. Of course, Edgar followed.

Max POV

"Shit! This is tougher than I *kicks small robot* than I expected!" Max shouted as she dodged backwards, dodging a laser shot by the giant robot.

A red and yellow robot boosted himself and stabbed a sword into the Boss robot's knee before hanging and shooting juice shots, "I barely scratched it! We need to attack the openings to damage it!" The hanging hero suggested as he projected his voice towards a short girl in a mech.

"Gotcha! I'm heading upwards!" Meg replied into a headset as she used her mech to climb a building.

Max ran towards a few brawlers, "Pam! Dyna and Jacky!" She downed a can of energy drink and sped everyone up.

A group of sniper bots and boxer bots took a defensive formation as Max approached. She zipped back and forth through the different bots, creating afterimages of herself. Yellow tracers created a stunning light show (that nobody could watch) as the hero of speed took down a battalion of bots.

Pam threw down a healing turret, "I'll fix ya up!" Some soldiers healed up as they took out shrapnel from their vests.

"People look!" Dynamike shouted as he pointed upwards.

A shine from the sun cleared as a man on a flying sword appeared. Edgar went to the ledge of a building as he saw Meg jump from her bot and cling on the Boss robot. She placed a charge before jumping off, having Rob(her mech) catch her.

An electromagnetic wave was charged and directed on the Boss robot as the red lights on the robot flickered.

However, a blue glow from the red core of the robot sparked before the Boss robot went back to life and charged a death ray from its core.

Meg gasped as the death ray was aimed at her. She hopped off Rob as the deathray blasted her Mech to pieces. She dropped in free fall as she screamed for help, "I'm falling! Surge! Do you copy?"

Surge, (who was on the arm of the boss robot) tried to respond but more and more mouse bots piled on him. "I...can't! There's too many..."

Meg closed her eyes, "Trust the process..." a second later, she felt cloth grab her and she landed near a balcony. She opened her eyes and saw Edgar, who had saved her.

"Don't thank me." Edgar said before looking up and seeing Jade slowly making his way towards the Boss robot.

"HEY METAL FACE!" Jade yelled towards the Boss robot as he send a few swords towards the Boss.

The Boss robot turned its head while its hand tried to shake Surge off.

That's right. I'm your target now.

Jade looked down, seeing all the faces below, all the panic and pain.

"It's alright. I'm doing this for the better."

Jade breathed before summoning an exceedingly large amount of sword.

"My Daggerstorm will blot out the Sun!" Jade yelled vociferously before sending down the rain of translucent swords on the Boss robot. The recoil of power he used sent him back a few meters, but he wasn't done.

He used both hands to control his sword in a way that it was directed towards the Boss. Sweat trickled down Jade's forehead as his hands went cold and wavering. The sword beneath his hand vibrated stiffly.

Surge noticed the swords and gasped before jumping and crushing with his body. The Boss robot tried to block the swords with his hand, but Surge had slammed it down with all his might before extending his wings and flying out from the pile of mouse bots.

The Boss robot held its right hand up but it wasn't enough to block the rain of swords.

Tiny prickling jabs from the swords stabbed the Boss robot's joint segments and eye. Its core sustained many hits before overcharging and blowing up.

Explosions formed on the Boss robot as pieces of it started falling off. The remaining small robots retreated to the beach as they witnessed their superpower fall to pieces.

Jade's vision started blurring as his hands and body felt weak. "I can't...fall now."

The boss robot had a short pause where sound was obstructed before a large explosion of blue and orange shrouded the core. A shockwave was formed as people hid from the falling Boss robot.

The shockwave hit Jade as he was sent into free fall.

"Surge! Catch the stranger! He's falling." Max ordered.

Surge affirmed before gliding towards Jade and catching him.

The Boss robot fell to the ground as the ground shook violently before coming to a stop.
